Looks great, I'm super happy, its an Egress folks, sure not a vintage Egress, but then, if it never happened, you would still all be whining, " when, oh when, can we have an Egress" sheesh, Tamiya really are damned if they do these days :P

Wait i got it, lets get a lab test on the cardboard used on the packaging, it "may" be different to that of the '80s hehehe, I'm kidding guys, but come on, seriously, some of you need to get out more

Furthermore, i really do understand, from a purists point of view, that the re re Egress, doesn't quite cut it, but, if your a true, purist, why the blazes, would you even sully yourself, with a re re kit, just food for thought!

I think we're all buzzing about it, but it's the old case of when you see something mind blowingly awesome, small little imperfections tend to stand out.

Personally I couldn't care less about bonus parts, but as they usually come with new re-re kits, I do like to see what they are...sadly, they're kinda exciting, even if just some ****ty DF03 wheels ;)

I think it looks great. If you want to talk about disappointing blister packs then look no further than the Black Special, where the colours were drab and the parts were not even labelled. Now that really was lazy.

Posted

Well how lazy is mr T getting , was this an after thought with the green side ?.

You would think it would have had the bearings in the packaging at least .

But woohoo it's an Egress , not bang for the cheap packing buck if you know what i mean :D

But it's still an Egress & we all want it , even that they have cheapened it with the packaging

& NO motor or tit screws . HAVE they lost there pride in the items ?, as it don't have that wow factor

like they use too .

Come on stella , i need my two Egress .

From the pic, it looks like the 1680 bearings are NOT the rubber sealed type after all.

Still, sealed bearings are so cheap, it's not an issue really.

Hope the ship date is not too far off now. :)

Posted

Well i don't have an issue with any of the blisters or artwork - yes, maybe, it could be better; perhaps they could have added a couple of alloy (pah !) pinion gears to the green blister but its minor stuff. And far batter than a load of plastic bags stuffed in a cardboard box. Tamiya could easily have cut costs by scaling down the box to a smaller size and bundled parts in bags. They have stuck to the original box art and sizing, used blisters - all fitting of a high end model.

I'm still undecided whether to go thru with my pre-order though - with my own ''re-re'' and a vintage sat on the shelf, and no desire to run either, it seems a little silly to buy an official rere with no purpose in mind.

He has been for some time , some did say this in the beginning in this thread i'm sure :D .

Way too expensive he has on it ...

Yeah they did, but that was for the ones with the stock Tamiya photo, this listing has an actual box and contents photo ;)

I'm a glutton for punishment. :)

I love the blisrer Pack A, as it is same as vintage look + the Egress written is on the top of each blister :D

The blister pack B, looks empty to me , i dont know whether it is a good thing to give the motor mount & Plate alone big space!!!,,but looks a new experience ;)

I'm no expert on this kit, like some of you boys. But, what would you prefer................

This re-re kit as it is, with it's flaws (blister packs etc) for £375 (UK price)

Or exactly as it was before, exactly the same packaging, inc motor etc, and taking that into consideration, I'm guessing it would be £500 ish??

I know which I'd go for.

Being completely obsessed with Egresses and owning (and I know this is nothing compared to some on here) 12 cars on this chassis, I'm obviously running around in circles with pure childlike excitement about all this. I want to make that clear, I'm buzzing about this re-re and the prospect of having a NIB one is turning me into a kid that has just drank a 3 litre bottle of Coke and a bumper pack of Haribo.

Now, with that precursor out of they way, I will say this.

I am honestly gutted that there is no special edition motor to reflect the greatness of the Dyna Tech. This motor was something that I never got to own, or even see as a kid and to me, its kinda like the holy grail. I heard about it, I saw in pictures, but I never saw one for myself, or knew anyone that had. So part of the Egress magic for me is tied to that intensely sexily designed black motor with beautiful gold typography (I'm a designer, I get off of details like fonts etc lol). The fact that Tamiya could have EASILY re-badged one of their existing motors (for the simple cost of a sticker) and bundled it in with this car for what, $40 extra? I'd have chewed their god damned arm off for that.

Please Tamiya marketing crew, see my passion, see my need and make a re-re Dyna Tech motor complete with its own box. I will buy 14, 12 to furnish my current cars on this chassis and the 2 Egress re-re's I've ordered. My wallet is yours to abuse, so let rip, let rip I tell you!

I can understand that, because as a kid I had a Bigwig obsession (probably worse because I couldn't afford one), and it had that superb Technigold motor (ummmm ......technigold....)

But, if they re-released the Bigwig minus the Technigold, it would definitely take a massive shine off it.

That is a shame, no need to change things in my opinion. Now we have gone form wow it has a full set of bearings to, wow it has a ..... motor mount

ohhhhhhh amazing...........it has motor mount and plate fantastic...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

u r indeed true mate :)

What's this all about from the description though?.... "The Egress has been truly revamped across the board, and it also features a brushless motor."

Poor translation - should read able to use brushless motor. Given the price of Tamiya's brushless items it'd have to be £550+ uk retail with the motor. Maybe certain markets will get a motored version ?

Bruiser re re can be bought an an XB version in certain markets (at a price !)

Yeah gotta be a typo. Just realised that a few lines down it says that a 540 motor type is required but not included.

Just about all of the re-releases have had a "flaw" that has annoyed the purists, whether it be a chassis design update or packaging change. In terms of staying the most faithful to the original in every possible way I'd say the Avante has been the best so far. Not only was the actual buggy pretty much indistinguishable from the original but the blister packs were every bit as impressive. It's a truly stunning kit throughout.

There is nothing wrong with the re re egress , it's to do with the WAY they have displayed packaging .

Could have had the bearings , But no it's got the woohoo motor mount etc .

It's has lost the wow factor in the packaging .

Come on , it's nov & i want my egress now !! ...

It's lost the wow factor because there are no bearings in the blister pack? Really?

Up until about a week ago I was expecting it to have no blister packs at all but the wow factor was still there. :)
