Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Email from ETamiya...

'As the egress is very limited in quantity,

and there is a big demand for this item which is far more than we expected and our supply is depleted.
the item has already be sold out while you placing the order
We are trying to arrange the item restock at this moment.
Please kindly wait for our email on order update.'

Gutted.

Would these be Japanese manufactured kits? As the other "high end" re-re's like the Avante and Bruiser were. If so, surely the typhoon would have zero effect on the distribution of these.

If the Avante was made in Japan then surely the Egress will be too, considering the amount of parts they share?

Possibly for the bulk of common materials, but the front hubs on the Vajra (same as Egress) were butter soft - i tore one just fitting the steering linkage !

No guarantees these days on where things are produced, just look at the RC10 Classic - US metal chassis, eveything else China

Do we really know all the Avante parts are Japan made - metal parts i could understand, but plastic parts are easily moved to lower cost base production facilities.

Cant see the horrific Typhoon being the issue, eTamiya are HK based and it seems they have sold stock, meaning they have shipped, just in short supply?

So, Banzai order one, on its way, or two, cancelled and now refunded. ETamiya ordered, cancelled and refunded. Time to start hunting again

Reporting from the front line folks... I'm in Hong Kong. Today, I visited one of the two country distributors - that is, one of the two companies that distribute to the local hobby shops and the online stores such as Stella, RCmart, etc. There is one last Egress 2013 in the store. It is not for sale until the next shipment arrives which is likely to be end of this month. It is true that a first batch of a few Egresses did arrive and were sold. A nice guy in the store allowed me to take photos of the contents of the kit. It is in the same layout as the original, that is, with the 2 blister packs by the sides and the body in the middle with the tyres at each corner. I have the photos in my phone but can't figure a way to post it here. I'm using an ipad to post this reply here and I have no idea how to get the photos from my phone to here. I am very pleased by what I saw and I think all the die-hard Egress fans would be happy too. Despite being the first batch, blisters appear to be properly-manufactured with none of the cracked blisters of the Avante 2011 and the warped blisters of the SS and Buggy Champ.

The story (not sure if this is a fact) is that Tamiya almost did not make the official release date in time so they shipped out the first few pieces to their distributors. So far, we have all been speculating on how limited supply would be but this is all unfounded. In fact, it would be produced in batches just like any other reissued buggy such as the Frog/Hornet/Grasshopper/Avante 2011, and the Bruiser (which is getting cheaper as the later batches correspond to lower Yen price).

I speculate that the real reason is that there are some country distributors (Japan/USA??? Just guesswork) that were not too happy with certain countries flooding the online market before the official release date whenever there is an important release. Otherwise, why would they not sell it to me even after I tried offering more than the recommended retail? And after visiting the hobby stores in the area, all of them confirmed that stocks have not arrived.

Will someone figure a way for me to get my Egress photos out of my phone (old Blackberry Bold) and onto this site...

Ha, haa, well, the extra order at ETamiya was something of a shotgun in the dark attempt at getting even a second one...ordering 3 = getting 1. Time to order 3 more...wait...nobody is accepting orders...bah.

This forum alone is responsible for the rising prices - stop the panic, there's 10,000 coming next month !

You're totally wrong Percymon, they've done this as a limited edition run of 10 as a special treat to die hard fans, if you missed out, you simply weren't hardcore enough ;)

EVERYONE BUY ONE AT WHATEVER PRICE BEFORE THEY ARE GONE FOREVER

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

In fact, I know what's going on.

Mr Tamiya has 10,000 in his garage and he's building up this hysteria so that he can pimp each one out on eBay for £1000 a pop ;)
