I think we can relax chaps, news just in from Tamiya Blog...

"Shipping will be postponed due to production reasons from 11th December (in Japan) to a new, still undecided date, we will post new infos when they are available."

...I think we can safely say that more are coming, its just a matter of when. Interestingly, it states 'In Japan' which says the delays are nothing to do with the hurricane.

I bet the Team Associated boss popped over to the factory and stole all the employees ;)

Not necessarily. Part of the kits may be manufactured in Cebu which is combined and packaged in Japan. I can't think of any other reason for a delay this long unless it was something unforeseen such as the mega-typhoon.

So my Tower Hobbies Egress is on it's way to me. After a small touchdown at an fellow TC member in the US, the box was filed up with additional vintage Egress decals and a slighty used BZ motor. In addition some old VW magazines and an Swift body that fitted inside the box. Now I'm even more looking forward to getting the package :D Really hope I will be getting the car before christmas.

Well now i am really worried. I asked for a tracking number after waiting 3 weeks after paying for an egress from jr-rc and i have been sent a solitary multi digit number starting EJ then 11 digits then JP (no helpful info / courtesy) Japan post tracking states it is the wrong amount of digits! And that it should be 11 to 13 numbers?! I have the terrible feeling i am being fobbed off!.

First of all, dont worry. Thus seller is top rated seller and many dealed with him without issues.

Second, it could stuck in custom.

You will get it for sure. Just ask him about the tracking number and definitely he will send the correct one if this is wrong or will assist you how to track this one...

Worry not, try (believe it or not) putting the entire code in parcelforce's or royal mails tracking, it should appear on one of them. Once a parcel leaves the far east with one of those number/codes it hits our systems shortly after.

I've ordered from jc-rc numerous times, but have never used jr-rc...are they the same person?

I hate to set hairs running but I never got an order from jr-rc (and I'm not the only one here, although I've had plenty without issue); I pursued and got my money back via paypal after further email correspondence failed to get a reply He always send an email when items are despatched (I did not, but was told it had been when i queried). If you have not got the information then either..

1. Jason doesn't yet have the item to send out - possible if he hedged his website stock

2. your order has not been serviced, in which case I'd make a diary note of all order dates, correspondence and keep this on file for a potential paypal/credit card claim. If through paypal check how long you have to make a caim and any iother dates in their claim process

You will find that the terrible front steering system will bobble around endlessly on the track. No matter what you do to shim slop out of the steering/suspension system, it's completely unavoidable. The scrub radius of the suspension is TOOOOooooo far off to allow the wheels to point in the direction you're steering at all times.

This is why the front knuckles of modern 4WD buggies look the way they do. Specifically to get the king pins as close to the center line of the wheel as possible. This eliminates feedback from road irregularities into the steering system (WHICH THEN STEER THE CAR). Here are pictures detailing the differences in king-pin location on a modern buggy vs these old Avante series. You can clearly see the Avante's upper & lower king pins are WAAAAY outside the wheel.

The egress is novel in that it's the first real race car development by the TRF. I think the Avante before it was 100% engineering & 0% development.

Respectfully bud I agree and disagree, the bump steer caused by the design Ive found to only be a hindrance if your track is severely bumpy. My local track featured big jumps flowing turns and one section with woops in it. ON this track the bump steer wasn’t an issue. The surface is about 50% clay 50% dirt. My Avante BS held its own nicely against modern buggies. The family of cars are a bit heavy, but modern brushless and lipo horse power have alleviated that problem. Some of the jumps on the track are significant, I haven’t broken anything yet! Currently running the Avante BS with Egress front and rear suspension arms, just because, with zero issues or failures. I run a three ball diff set up in the BS, will go to the traditional two ball diff, one way set up in my Original Avante. I know this is the Egress thread but the technical details apply, lets see some shots of these reres running!!! Probably going to upgrade the BS to Egress once the spare parts hit the bay.

If you drove a DB01 right after an Avante, you would find it's almost comical how precise it handles. It's like drafting with a crayon vs a mechanical pencil.

Hahaha I know what you mean, I run a TF Evo and a 801xt at the track as well (yes it is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge track). So yes I do notice the handling differences, still not a bad nadling car, turns pretty smartly with the one way as well.

Yes the the tightness of it's minimal radius is ridiculous on my Vanquish, even with tripple ball diffs. The Egress will definitely be a fun car on the track. No doubt.

The correct format for a Japan Post tracking number if shipped by the quicker EMS option is EXyyyyyyyyyJP. It always begins with 2 alphabets showing the shipping class, followed by 9 digits which is the "identifier" and ends with 2 more alphabets showing the country of origin. The "EJ" in your number tells me its an EMS item (faster than the slower SAL economy service); the JP at the end says the parcel originates from Japan. However, you should have 9 digits in between the alphabets and not 11. That's the format for EMS. I've used EMS out of Japan more than 30 times in the last few years and they are very efficient (they even work on Saturdays and Sundays). It never takes more than 2.5 full days for a parcel to leave Japan from the time it was accepted. Getting back to your tracking number, you will not be able to track it on Japan Post or on your Royal Mail or Parcelforce site as long as it is in the wrong format. Please clarify with the seller. Here's the English version of the Japan Post tracking site... it shows you the correct number format: https://trackings.post.japanpost.jp/services/srv/search/input?locale=en

Also, I looked at the seller's completed listings and assuming you bought item number 370941759502 which ended on Nov 14th, it does not say that the listing is for a pre-order item so according to ebay policy, it would have to be "in stock" and ready to ship. It also says under the shipping tab that he ships within 2 days of payment and to expect 6-12 business days to reach you. Taking into account the weekends and the heavier festive traffic, it should not take more than 3 weeks to show up on your country's tracking site (regardless of whether it is held for taxes). If it doesn't reach you within the expected delivery window, you can open an eBay case (in theory). But my advice is that it is far better to communicate with the seller before taking drastic action as there is no point turning the relationship sour if you might buy from him in future. You have 45 days to open a case against the seller.
