As disappointed as many if us have been about this release bear in mind there was a blooming big typhoon that swept they their supply chain. We have no idea what that means for the facility or the employees. A box of plastic parts is somewhat meaningless in the scheme of things.

Then halt the release, pull it back some till things are more settled in the region, and then run the supply chain, its a business afterall and generates revenue for said ravaged region

If all the wheels, damper stays, decals and bodies etc ,were produced in the area that got hit by the typhoon, I can see a limited run

Then its very strange we have seen a lot of body sets, decals, dampers and wheels for sale, when I'm sure Tamiya would have held them back for an overall kit sale?

Errr why have I just spent the last few minutes checking kit stock levels at various vendors?

I have 1 kit with 1 more on the way

I am sure I can hear a voice saying

"Remember the 3 kit rule"

Gents, as they promote the 2K1 rere body for the Egress rere i assume the rere Egress upper deck has the holes already in to mount the driver figure. If so, can someone get me the exact dimensions so i k ow where to drill in my Avante 2k1?

Many thanks, DD

My imagination is getting the better of me now :D

Maybe Tamiya wanna limit the kit now so that an up and coming special edition Egress kit (more expensive and better profit margin) will sell better?

Special edition may include;

Dynatech 01R or 02H motor

BF8/BF9 parts

Original Egress design CF front shock tower

Blue adjusters with the appropriate turnbuckle rods

Alloy front & rear uprights

Titanium screws

Blue rubber sealed bearings

Posi-drive shaft

Anything else I might have missed? :D

If the driver figure mounts to the upper deck, why would you need to drill the body? I'm not following you here.

There will be more , it's just roomers . Come on people !! If it was a LTD run

it would have had 84*** number . It will be some one that has nothing to do

to come up with such a roomer , or too sell more kits @ high prices .

Mates!!..

Tamiya will stop for a while, not for good...

It is a matter of time for Tamiya to produce again so do t confuse between stop production for good amd stop temporary. .:-)

Because on the original Avante 2K1, the driver figure was mounting on the body, not on the upper FRP deck. The rere body set has the driver included to mount on the upper deck (like the Avante). Since my 2K1 is an original, the upper deck doesn't have any holes in to mount the driver figure so i am assuming the rere Egress upper deck has them as the rere 2K1 body set was released as an option for the Egress.

With me now?

Don't go poking extra holes into your old original if you don't have to... maybe ShoeGoo or servo tape driver to shell?

Next you'll be wanting to dye your white wheels yellow...! :)

You have a point. Maybe its better to convert the new driver into the old version with a couple of pieces styrene glued to it.

Im astonished at the price difference between retailers:

RCjaz - $499

RCmart - $360

And RCJaz's has come down by $50 overnight! They mailed me to say that they'd got stock and when I saw the price I almost spat my coffee out.

Crazy pricing.

well finally received it yesterday, gleu'd up the carbon plates sides an mounted the front an rear gear box, i never use tread lock because its not in the manual, is that ok? seems strange.

A fine modelling brush, some tamiya CA glue + 10 mins of your time and you'll extend the life of the carbon massively. Makes a big difference if you intended to run it, especially off road or in the wet.
