Here is a fresh news about the Egress from 1 of Tamiya big Dealers in Japan:

Good day Haider,

Thanks to you we are doing fine, we hope that you are doing great too. We regret to inform you that the Egress remains out of stock as Tamiya Japan has ceased production. I shall inform you when there is any news on the restock for Egress.

Thanks again for shopping with us. Have a nice day, and please let me know if I can assist further. I will always try my best to serve you better!

Kindest Regards,

Sooooooo??

Crazy.

Postponed production? Or genuinely discontinued?

Wow yeah, remember watching you build the BS here, can't wait to see you jump on the Egress!

Loved painting the driver on that car :)

But getting the transfers perfect was heart stopping!

Beautifull! No words.

Cheers dude. Once I've got my other 3 2001's polished up and my last Egress shell done, I'm going to do a massive chassis family shoot. 3 vintage Egress's, 1 Egress re-re, 4 2001's, 1 vintage Avante, 1 Avante BS, 1 Avante 2011 and lastly, the ugly sister, the Vanquish (TamiyaEra will hate me for that comment ;) Should make for some good shots.

For a 58xxx series product, that would be an extremely short production run. Even shorter than the Avante Black Special, which was a true limited production item.

My guess is it is a temporary halt due to parts problems from the Philippines.

Or maybe it isn't selling well inside Japan?

Well I use the centre lock in my runner. I prefer the way it drives and to have all 4 wheels braking the car is what I like. Mine runs a brushed motor so it has a fair amount of natural drag brake. This also helps to level out your jumps by getting on and off the throttle in the air.

Seeing as Mheald thinks the Vanquish is the Ugly sister,

Must I remind you of the Vajra?

Vajra build Chassis

And to top it off I fitted a ***** body and cheap repo decals (badly fitted to body)

with cheap buggy wheels

lool,,,,glad you are starting to like it and believe me , if you have the Vanquish between your hands, i am sure 100% you will LOVE it ;)

Vanquish is one of the best Tamiya design in my opinion.

It suffers of low budget style chassis design and components like the yellow dampers, the plastic damper towers etc etc but it was not guilty for this.

Its destiny was to be the poor man Avante but if you upgrade it as I did it's a great model to collect.

It also deserves a decent driver like the Avante and this is exactly what I did.

I am tempted to buy an Egress. I never had one when I was younger, and originals always fetch too high a price for me on Ebay. I'll end up going to Stella, no doubt, but should I use Stella's website or Stella on Ebay? There's a slight price difference between the two.

I thought Ebay was cheaper by £10 Sterling. Or are you saying that I should order through the Stella website in U.S. Dollars? After conversion to pounds the price works out much cheaper. Of course, that's assuming I don't get busted at customs.

in ebay it is: $395 + shipping.

Their site: $368 + shipping

yes..in USD...and ask them to set the vlaue to minimum they can so you will not be hit by custom.

I am sure UK mates here who bought the kit from stella will help you more... ;)
