Does anyone know if a company called Controlfreax are still in business ? As my next project I am considering doing a 80's Group B Rally car . I fancy either the Ford RS200 or a Metro 6R4 . Just something a bit different from the norm that can give these Lancia 037's a run for their money lol. I know Controlfreax did these bodies but for the life of me after hours on google I just don't seem to be able to find their homepage . Anyone with a link HELP .

Cheers Arron

Website is down. I found this 2010 interview with the owner, Lewis Barton, while googling, and the comments section had a fellow looking for them, as well (and just 4 days ago). The author said he'd email Lewis for the poster, so maybe try that...

Many thanks Lawdog . Looks like its going to be a detective job to track one of these shells down .

And suddenly, it is 1983 all over again with 037s in all sorts of hands and other Group B cars rising to the challenge...

A detective job, for sure, but one that looks well worth it!

I think so if I can find one - might even fit it on a twin motor M chassis if i find a 6R4. It would be done in the Rothmans livery as driven by Jimmy McRae in the 1986 rally season

Delta plastik do quite a few older rally car bodies but their postage rates on their site are a little silly

I wish u luck with controlfreax but fear you may find it a dead end :(

It might be worth dropping the guys at Kamtec an email Arron. Even if they don't stock it they maybe interested in making one as it's just the sort of car/era they go for.

I've already being in touch with Keith mate . The cost of a one off and the lead time makes it a no go for me .

If you do find someone that's making 6R4's let me know. One would look great with the Quattro and S4 I already have.

The S4 from RallyLegends seems good quality, thicker lexan than the Carisma Quattro. Also S4 has a choice on the number of lights (with or without from spotlights)

I loved Group B and remember going to see the cars on a night stage at Donnington - happy and noisy days...

The Metro or RS200 seem to be as rare as hens teeth but being a pig headed Yorkshireman I will continue the hunt lol

As a matter of interest, what sort of cost is involved?

I'am still talking to Keith . Obviously its all down to numbers . If he gets enough enquires ( hint hint ) then it makes it more worth his while making them .

I'd love an RS200. I have too many projects at the moment but would seriously consider one in the future.

Just a reminder to everyone; the Rally Car Cockpit set is being re-released this year too, so a proper twin-driver interior could be added. Obviously RS200 is mid-engined but you could fabricate a little firewall and get creative with some styrene :)

I prefer the Metro 6R4 . Its brutal - some would say ugly - all business looks just capture the whole group B era .

Are there any other, more readily available bodies for the shorter wheelbase that were 4WD 1:1 cars? I'm thinking of doing another TL-01 cut and shut and would like to put a mini shell on, but they are FWD and I'd like to retain the 4WD of the donor.

The 205 turbo fits the bill mate and is readily available. 1:1 was mid engine 4x4 .

What you need is someone to have a word with a manufacturer, say Frewer as an example, and get them to pull some more bodies off one of their old group B rally car molds. Then you could get a bunch of guys to go in and pay a deposit up front to reserve a body, have one person do all the dealing with the manufacturer, then send all the bodies out in one hit once done and the balance was paid for.

Oh, wait, we did this already,in 2007!!!!! Then, far as I am aware, Frewer sold the molds to another company (HistoricRC), who started making them for a much higher price.... then stopped just as quickly, and now only seem to produce 1:8 onroad vintage bodies. It's a shame, as I would really like another 205 to go with the rather beaten one I have....

Alex if I can track down who has the moulds for the Metro , RS200 and 205 that's exactly what I think I will do . If we show enough interest surely they will see a chance to make some sales and get these back in production .
