I just won an ebay auction for a holiday buggy.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=44022&rd=1

Of course, minutes after paying for it, I remember that there are lots of clone holiday buggies out there. Did I get a real one?

I see no rear body mount, which I assumed was simply missing when I bid. However, I guess this could also indicate a clone.

I already paid, it's mine, I'd rather know now if its fake, rather than be surprised.

If it's real, I think I did OK for $51(US). If not. Live and learn.

Bibbo,

I'll take you up on that offer. When the car arrives, I'll contact you. Thanks!

NetsmithUK & professorslot,

And thanks for the other replies confirming it's probably the original. I feel better now.

Yes, the body is from different plastic, also tough to paint. I also had problems gluing the roolbar on one of mine... [V] If oyu find a suitable glue pls let me know.

Good luck!

I tried using a thin formula of CA tire glue and it worked very well. Far better than the plastic model cement I tried first. I also glued a small piece of lexan over the repair for a little additional strength.

Big thanks Bibbo for shipping the missing body mount and another HB part to me for free!

Use a soldering iron and melt the plastic together it works great , you can sand the plastic down then , and dont paint it just rub it down with wet and dry paper and give ait a few coats of clear laquer. wet flat lightly between each coat

I have tried this to. A soldering iron makes a great plastic welder...a lot stronger than any glue. After wet/dry sanding the weld, polish it up with T-cut "cutting" auto polish and then polish it with a regular auto polish.

How do you do the weld with the iron? Do you just drag it across the joint? Or do you melt one half and then quickly push the halves together? I think I would melt holes in the plastic, instead of actually making a joint if I tried.

I don't think you can really do any sanding or re-finishing of the holiday buggy plastic. It's not normal. My HB body seems to be made of the same material as a child's sand toy (pail/shovel), or tupperware.

I kind of gently hold the iron between the two pieces like a sandwich (gently though) and then push em together quickly so the lightly molten plastic melts together and dries. Then I drag the iron over the outside seam...again carefuly trying to get as much melting together as possible while maintiang as much shape as possible. Then sand and polish it to finish.

I think I know what you mean about the plastic...are you going to paint it? If you are then there will be no probelm as even if the polishing doesnt leave a %100 smooth finish, a few light coats of primer and some wet sanding will fill in any grainyness.

[?] Really? Does that actually work? I wish I would have known that before I threw mine out several years back.[:(]

Yep, works.. 1 of the ways that i use to repair my mud blaster body

Can also be a nice "temp" fixing before using resin / glass fiber.

Isn't the holiday buggy shell a different type of plastic though? How is that repaired?

The holiday buggy is very different plastic. I really don't think think you could sand it at all. It would peel.

CA glue created a very strong bond on my HB body.
