Hey guys,

This may have been covered before, in fact I'm betting it has, but it hit me recently...why have we never seen a re-re of the Monster Beetle, Mud Blaster or Blackfoot? Out of all the cars left to re-re, these must be the cheapest of the lot for Tamiya to make and man, they'd be so POPULAR!

Pretty much every part is already in production, including the shells, all they'd need to do is change the colour of the brat chassis, make the front shock tower, MB rear bumper and? That's it right?

Fingers crossed this happens...please god say it will one day happen.

Some parts unique to the Monster Beetle:

Gold wheels

Nose cone and front headlights

Rear bumper and antenna mount

Servo saver metal protector

Plastic Windows (not sure on this one)

Decals

If they do, they'll likely use dogbones instead of the hex shafts and change some of the decals a bit, I hope they strenghten up the diff so hotter motors can finely be used. I already have a restored shelfer and a nice runner, so I'd pass on this one

I doubt it would be re-released now - these days its stability and speed that youngsters want, and they are hardly MonBeet charcteristics.

The MB uses the F-150 Blackfoot's unique counter and spur gear, along with a plastic motor mount for long 10T pinions (different from the similar Lunchbox pinion). This is needed to provide gearing for torque.

I think, or at least hope, Tamiya will rere more or less all of the first 100, or at least the offroads, just a matter of time and what none of us have, PATIENCE!

I think Tamiya might consider this down the line, and yeah, they'll likely give it some gearbox and drive sharft love as lets be honest, you couldn't keep one of these going for long without issues lol.

Lets hope :)

Blackfoot III, Mud Blaster II, Bush Devil II. I think the most likely is a Monster Beetle II. Interesting that they haven't done it yet though.

A re re Bigwig would be awesome. To some people it was ugly but I think it's great looking. Come on MR Tamiya you've given us the Avante and Egress re re's now give us the Bigwig re re. Plenty of 80's enthusiasts would jump at the chance.

If there were to be a MB on the ORV chassis, it would make sense to use a King Blackfoot gearbox and rear suspension, as it's a lot tougher than the original one. I only had my mud blaster a few weeks before the diffs and drive shafts started crackling, and that was on a silver can and a 1700mah Nicad. IMO the original gearbox is just to much of a liability for a re-re, anf the rear trailing arms aren't best known for their reliability either. The KBF was a quantum leap in reliability by comparison

I would certainly be interested in such a model, with the classic Baja Beetle shell on a tough modern(ish) chassis that can handle today's power systems. I hope it does become a reality someday.

I was thinking the Monster Beetle could happen, maybe even on the WT-01 if that chassis is still around. It would be nice to see, given its unique character - for a while I thought about looking for one until I realized just how rare they are.

I don't think the unreliability thing would stop tamiya really. I mean they've re-re'd the brat and frog with the same components and they weren't released as being mainstream bashers, they were re-re'd based purely on nostalgia.

We can live in hope ;)

was bring out the bf3 , Mud Blaster 2 out . as i'm not happy about that .

But the brat and the Frog didn't have monster truck diameter tyres on the back end, which is what destroys the gearboxes......

No harm in hoping though.

cant understand why the bigwig was never re released with all the significance surrounding it ?

I think the Hotshot, boomerang, and super sabre were much more popular sellers.

Personally myself I though it looked awful in comparison with the 3 above
