Anybody have this mounted on a Rough Rider?

Not looking like it wants to fit with the cutout on the body.
I can space it out so the body clears, but the shocks are forward of the cutout.

Also any pics of the Race Prep Dual shock kit mounted?

Judging by what I can see in the pictures I think it would fit.

In the past I thought about making these brackets with aluminum myself but I was needing of

some other parts and decided to sell the extra shocks I had...

Anyway, here's a picture for you to see.

I have a set of those but didn't get a time to install it yet on the buggy.. As i remember no need to modify to fit but may be wrong. Its been a while already... :-) Lets see if i can dig it out & fit to the rough rider..

Most people used then in conjustion with the rear roll cage, so cut the back of the body off. This meant the body wouldn't interfere with the shocks or rear end, so no rubbing. Some people cut the body, even without a roll cage to improve cooling, and if ABS RR shell- loose some weight! And it looked well ally!

As for the Race Prep shock mount, you probable won't have any luck. Race Prep parts are rather rare as they were a smaller company, and less proved than others such as RCH, CRP, Parma, etc

Had hoped to mount a RR body to this chassis, I picked up a Trick Stuff RR Roll Cage that replaces the stock roof.

I can make it work, was curious to see another RR with the RCH parts.

Believe me I know the Race Prep parts are rare, have had quite a bit of them over the years, I have the RP shock kit, it uses the longer front shocks.

I will keep this chassis pretty much as is, did find the MRP Pro 110 body fits really well.post-2233-0-65854900-1382392733_thumb.jp

They work with the RR body. Hade such a RCH dual shock mount on my old RR and it was fine. I shall get another set again soon. Will put it on my other RR.

STOP!

I just got a set of these original RCH dual shock mounts in and tried fit them to my Rough Rider. To my very suprise, they do NOT work unless you are using them on a Sand Scorcher or Ford Ranger. They do NOT fit on a Rough Rider without modification to the body shell!

That is very interesting now because I once used such dual shock mounts on a Rough Rider and they were a direct fit w/o any modification. I am little bit confused now...:blink::blink:

But what to badword did I have back some years ago. I baught the opviouse same dual shock mount off ebay some years ago and had them used on my Rough Rider w/o problems. I have seen a RR with such a dual shock mount in a showroom on TC as well. Got to do a search for it.

Maybe Race Prep? It might have mounted differently. Or the cantilever Race Prep set up?

Yes, it moves the shocks forward of the cut out. body pictured is floating about where it should clip onto the roll bar.

Totally off-topic, but I went and checked your TC showroom and couldn't find any pictures of this Buggy Champ. I kinda like the paintscheme and would love to have a look at the whole car. Any chance that you can upload some photos of it?

That body is actually from a different car, I just sat it on top of that chassis to show how everything lined up. But yeah... I've got a lot of srb projects... Haha

I'll add them to my show room here as they get completed.

Thanks for the link, Finman. Could it be that the body that's in the picture is a lexan one and maybe not the exact same measure of the hard one?

It is a lexane body.

I looked at my lexan rough rider shell - you could easily fit twin shocks in the cut out - in fact as it stands the single shock is at the rear of the cut out. I guess the lexan shells can be shuffled about a bit before you drill the front body post hole

It is also no problem to fit a RR shell. But before you paint it, cut and modify the damper cut out accordingly with styrene. I'll gonna make it with my RR shell.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I have a few cars in my showroom with the duel mount..Some of you may remember that I duplicated the system an made 50 or so sets...I will try to post a link but no promises..Go to my showroom and see the original Rough Rider body fits just fine on the chassis...Also have Super Champs and Sand Scorchers with same hookup...No body mods necessary with this set up..regards Pleiku68

Sorry they do not like the image extension from my showroom you will have to stop by if you want to see the gig...Twinset and Simonsays use to help me post pic's or anyone else is welcome to try....Jerry

You definitley have to modify the body to fit as Flatout's picture clearly illustrates. I have one of the RCH mounts on my rough rider below but I only used one side of it to mount a bigger Delta damper and cut off the other side of the mount that would have interfered with the body.

Here is another shot showing the mount

Now I know I am getting old...I thought this topic was for a duel rear mount for a Rough Rider/SRB not a single coil over on a aftermarket..

I don't doubt a body mod is necessary for the This rear coil over shock...

Hi TamTom...I was selling the mounts on Ebay and this site about 9 years ago..You probably bought one of my sets that do not require any body modifications...regards Plieku68
