Certainly a collectable car as it is one of the first 100 , a fun car but not a high price tag .The excellent and highly detailed body shell has been re-released with the 58499 Montero kit

Absolutelly yes!

This car has been in fact re-released as Mitsubishi Montero with Lunchbox chassis.

With the re-release of the Subaru Brat you can easly find tires and wheels and you will obtain a 58044 Pajero.

If you find an original 58044 probably the price will be not so high.

I think if you collect it because of its details and relatively capable. A good all around but not the best in any one area. I still have my since 98...that makes him still a teenager. I only replace the drive shaft and the chasis because the rear mount plate was stressed from the weight of the body after several rear ends. Now is a shelf king.

If you think of collecting for value appreciation....i think your grown grand kids may see it as there are so many people now has one from the re release. I would seriously consider adding it to your collection as is a relatively good all around RC.

An affordable classic, it seems. I heard it is a fun runner, too - plenty of bounce, and a sight to see at full throttle. I have been seriously considering a re-release version to add to my collection, despite its basic chassis layout.

I think if you lock the rear diff and manage to lock the front diff as well, you will see is quite capable for general run about in fields, playgrounds and gardens even with Tamiya's standard silver motor. It will not be able to crawl like Axial or other newer models. You can keep it stock or load it up with hop ups and detail part to make it your very own ride.

Front diff? Is 58044 not the 2WD model that could have the receiver battery moved to the rear?

sorry i am referring to another model..namely the xc / cc..the 58044 not my cup of tea. The general consenses buy only what you like.

A great classic and a fantastic runner for fun bashing!

For me the best wheelie car ever made, with a Sport Tuned motor can wheelie forever at "Time Warp" speed..... :P

Don't expect good handling..... ;)

Bye.

It's a pity as i had a deal on 2 of them on a Dutch 2nd hand site but whilst we were emailing to make final arrangements on shipping and payment they started bidding on them on the 2nd hand site and the price went much higher then we had agreed so the seller withdrew from the deal. Got me upset big time but all in all, nothing you can do.
