Here is my Trim :)

I didnt cut it fully, so i need to squeeze little to make it through the tower. At least to keep the look/shape as original ;)

I did test the nose through the tower and it is OK, little squeeze as mentioned

Glad the trim resulted nicely... B)

I am surprised that nobody knew this as when you buy the rere mini hicaps which includes the Egress front shocktower, it shows which sections of the nose you have to remove in order for the Avante body to fit.

I still have the instructions @ home and will scan them in in the evening.

Mate, little clarification. in the Hop Up Mini HI-Caps, the shock tower is not same as Egress's one. It is Stretched (X) like. And the Instruction is for the Avante 2011/BS as these were released for these (2011/BS).

But also, u dont need to trim it. My BS uses the Hop Up Hi Caps and my nose is as it is. Just unbolt it, fit it and bolted back.....

Well 94eg!, i value your vintage RC experience very much, but do not follow you on this one for the simple reason that i cannot believe that any body design is layed out in such a way that it was intended that you unbolt the shock tower. Indeed you have the option, but it surely wasn't the designers intent.

It doesn't matter what you "believe"......It's a fact that you have the option with the parts I mentioned.

The designer's intentions are irrelevant. ^_^

Thanks for your altruism and courage for being the first to mutilate the sacred body for the common good lool.

Now that the cake is baked, lets us have the chance to drool over the icing on the cake.... 2K1 body on the Egress please :D

We can only know if the trimmed nose will look good when the Egress chassis is dressed in it :)

The 2K1 body shell has so much angles all round that it seems the two tone non-contrasting coloring at the body sides brings out the best of it. I can't imagine when the stickers are put on.

That cannot be said the same for the Egress. Egress need stickers to improve aesthetics.

It's just my opinion. Pls ignore if not applicable to you :D

Here you go Avante 2001 fans, I've just finished up my re-re body and mounted it on my vintage 2001 chassis. The quality all round is stunning, its a great shell. I just need to find some time to complete the driver now. I used to do A LOT of scale modelling and Games Workshop figure painting, so I tend to really get into the fine detail on these things.

Only 3 more to do now ;)

Great collection. I do see that you struggled a little with the "Avante logo" decal on the side right? It was a nightmare to get that on properly.

Yeah big time! The other side went on perfectly, without a hitch, but this side, oh man, I almost cried. I got half of it on just right and the whoops, the other end stuck its self down due to static and that was that. I tried to pull it up but it tore in 3 places, so I then spent 20 mins trying to tidy that mess up lol. Soooooooo challenging.

I've never done the wet method either, but I'm guessing its the same as a airfix kit...ish. Only you dont soak these, I guess you wet the surface, stick down and then leave to dry. I'll be damned if I'm trying it, just in case I make an even bigger mess lol.

I know, i did my right side 2 days ago and it went really hard. Honestly said though, i thought the left would be easier then right but it has cost me blood sweat and tears to get it on properly last night.

Results of both sides are in my 2K1 thread : http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72021&page=2
