is the decal wet method necessary? cos i never used this method and all my decals turns up perfect!!..

if any one can make a detailed steps with photos in how to apply decals with Wet method, would be nice :)

Trust me, i really cannot imagine that you can those 2 on without making the body surface wet. Do not make the decal wet, only the body.

You need to position, reposition until you have the ends in the right location and then get the curves done but when you do those, you still need to be able to move the outer sides so the material can go somewhere. Otherwise you get wrinkles.

would have made pics if only they wouldn't have been on already

So u mean I should not peel off all tue outer decal paper?

And from where should I start pushing the decal to fit?

This is my poor Avante 2001. I will make the new body as soon as possible. This is my Avante 2001 configuration that is slightly different from boxart and is far away better than original configuration imho. I'm sure Haider's eagle eye will notice immediately the difference, so I wait for a comment about, keeping in mind that the job on this car is not yet began.

I pulled the decal paper off completely. Because of the body surface to be wet from the water/dish washing soap solution, you can move the decal on the body surface until you push the solution from underneath.

For the left decal, i started in the rea to get it positioned to the edge of the wheelarch. On the right decal, i aligned the 2 outer sides to the edge of the body and then focused on getting the curve in the middle correct and then worked my way outwards. First the right side of the curve, then the left.

I am sure u will turn this into pure original one.

Loool..yes..it has many non original/stock parts like: rear damper stay, wheels, front and rear setup bumpers and the hi caps are hop up ones.. This what I can tell from the photos wuth body on it.

Ooooooh I'm inspired now, I think I'm going to do a pink one...as with a set of Avante BS pink wheels on, this would look sick...actually, maybe black Egress wheels thinking about it.

The 2001 is one of Tamiya's prettiest cars by far IMO. Its an underrated beauty. Bloomin love this car.

For the sake of my wallet, Tamiya, dont do a full re-re, as I'll end up buying something stupid, like 4 of'em.

Yes! The bigger modification is the rear damper position, similar to original Avante.

Don't mind the wheels, they are Madcap ones and will go on my Winger project.

This Avante 2001 will have original Avante 2001 cam lock white wheels and stud spike tires but the rear damper position will remain this one.

I believe it's similar to original Avante and also the wing position is better imho.

Thebody will be PS-16 sprayed, as per manual, with it's onw driver set.

Maybe the Hi Cap dampers will became gold anodized to match the original Avante.

This is my Avante 2001 project.

Now it is clear....as it is my first time to use the Wet Method,,so Lets give a try ;)

That's pretty unique. I wouldn't change a thing. Looks like a fantastic home for some vintage electronics (from the parts bin or ebay). Just it get it running again and then run it!

Jeez. Almost the same price as the actual item.

I think they are taking advantage on the shipping and i hate that! I paid 13 USD for shipping for my 2K1 bodyset @ RCmart which is also HK so it can't be that shipping can be that more expensive with 1 against the other.

but RCMart gave options for air mail and EMS, Banzai will only offer SAL for smaller packets

Yeah you'd find that the shipping on the shell would only be about an additional $5-10 if you were buying a kit at the same time. It's just a size thing with Banzai.

May all be true but if i only want to buy one item, i still want a fair price for shipping. too much to ask for?
