I look at it this way , if stella can sell it at that rate & making money , HOW much are the other shops making ?.

There must be a very big markup .

So you getting the 6 , like you wanted ?. :P ....

Yeah makes you wonder. The cost of bodyshells here in the UK is disgraceful. You're talking at least twice the cost of Stella at least I think.

But yeah, at this cost I'd likely buy more than I needed lol. Just in case I come across any more 2001 restoration projects...as lets be honest, 4 is nowhere near enough ;) I love the Egress, but there is something about the 2001 that makes me keep buying them. I think its the whole 'ugly duckling' thing, most folks dont like it, so for some reason, it makes me like it more lol.

Body set can be seen in the Tamiya Fair video http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/40809064 at 26:07, strategically placed directly alongside the Egress.

Looks like it does come with decals and driver figure so no worries there.

Ooooh great find, that body set has me as excited as the Egress! I know it's always looked at as the lesser car, but man, I love the look of the 2001 sooooo much. Stunning design.

No undertray seen there of course, but hopefully that will be included too.

I dont think the under tray is necessary as the Egress's one will fot the Avante 2001 body

You would hope that they supply the original one too though as the two are not identical.

Markup in the UK on Tamiya?!

You must be mad. Retailers make very little profit on the kits/parts sold here in GB - hence bud demise of the high-street hobby shop.

It's not the shopkeeper to blame; it's our government taking the urine...

There is an undertray in that video. It's sitting right next to the body. Hard to see cause the 2001 undertray is supposed to be painted black. It also looks they are using the original 2001 driver figure that attaches to the body itself. So I wonder what all those holes in the REgress upper deck really are for?

Well spotted. But if that is the proper original undertray it looks like it has not been trimmed properly. It looks half finished.

Looks right to me. The battery side is supposed to get cut an extra step lower than the motor side. You can rest assured it's from the original mold.

The real question is weather or not that nose is going to fit through the shock tower.

Worst thing about that video (for me) : They showed the lexan mould for the 206 WRC body which was a short-wheelbase model. Finding a good shell these days is....tough. And to think we had one on the shelf at Time Tunnel when I used to work there 10 years ago!

With regards to the 2001's tyres....is it correct to state that it used the same ones that are now prevalent on the likes of the Holiday Buggy 2010 etc, ie 53059?

Posted

Yes those are them. "Wide Stud Spike Tires 53059"

Holiday buggy actually comes with those same tires pre-installed over oversized 2.2" Star Dish wheels (Ala DT02). In that example those poor tires are being overstretched to fit on 2.2" star-dish wheels cause they were originally meant for 2" Avante wheels.

PS: The 2001 ran same width tires front & rear.

Posted

I wonder if they will re-release the wheels in the near future then?

Failing that, what's the best method of turning the standard Avante wheels white? At the risk of asking an idiotic question, there is no way of "dyeing" something white is there?

I wonder if they are going to include the 2001's special wing wire. It mounts the wing above & in front of the shock tower.

It is well trimmed, but due to Light noise reflection, makes it looks bad in Shape..lool

Seeing how radically different they are, I don't see how they can think of not including the proper one as the 2001 wing will just look wrong sitting on the Egress mount.
