The battery for my MB is Tamiya Ni-Cd 7.2v 1200mAH

Can anyone recommend a good fast charger with auto shut off?

Depends on your budget and whether you think you're going to stick with the hobby. Sky can be the limit on these things!

Ansmann ACX2 looks pretty good and handles both NiCds and NiMh batteries. I've seen them going on ebay for £15.99 plus p&p. I'm sure others will chip in....

Ripmax Pro-Peak 2500VP is good - mains/12v, variable charge rate, NiMH and NiCd, £40.

I agree with sosige - Pro peak 2500VP is a good entry level charger which is still okay if you progress to 3000 NimH packs.
