Hi everyone , this is a short pic history of my champ which I restored about six months ago. To be honest it was an easy resto as the previous owner had built it, perhaps run it in his lounge twice and put it in the loft! Original everything, even the buggy spikes are like new. No scratches underneath, no cracks in the body anywhere. All I did was strip it, clean everything and rebuild. The body was stripped using graffiti remover and re sprayed in the correct blue and I airbrushed the roll bars in Matt red as well as the side vents.

The leaflet is something which I picked up recently, it shows a champ which is very different to the production version. Look at the oil bottle position, look at the high roof with no vents. Must me the prototype. Enjoy and cheers.

Nice restoration!

What is the purpose of the oil bottle? any chance you have some pictures of the rear suspension setup? it looks quite intriguing.

The oil bottle provides a reservoir of extra oil to leak out past the shock seals and onto the shelf

haha :)

I was wondering does it have a one way valve or does the extra reservoir act as a pressurised container also?

Thanks but this baby ain't going to turn a wheel in anger!!

I would love to be able to tell you where I got the decals from but the repro police might reprimand me!!!! All I can say is Google is your friend especially when you type in super champ decals!!

Like Nugget wrote, that one must be the prototype. I suppose that configuration was scrapped after the production layout was suggested, which would reduce the amount of tubing required to the monoshock.

It appears the prototype oil reservoir's opening faces the front of the buggy, whereas the production type faces the rear - hence, the inference.

The brochure and poster are nice finds to complement a good-looking restoration. At a casual glance, I may have never noticed the differences on the brochure example.
