Hi, since I'm mostly into Tamiya it would be nice to open my mind a bit more and get to know what people consider the absolut must have vintage car from the different brands.

To me it's as follows:

Tamiya: Egress

Kyosho: Javeline

Marui: Ninja

Graupner: Renault alpina

Schumacher: pro cat

I know there are several other brands, so feel free to enlight me :-)

Tamiya, For me the Egress is not really vintage, I was parting with the hobby for a while not long after this came out, so for me a must have 'vintage' would be hotshot II. I had the original hotshot, and the II was the best overall out of the series.

Kyosho: Ultima, Salute looks great, optima mid probably one of the best designs ever.

Schumacher: Agree with the Pro-cat, evolution of the original design with the bugs ironed out.

Tamiya: Sand scorcher

Kyosho: Javelin

AYK: 566B

Marui: Samurai

TT: Trans Am

Very hard to pick just one favorite out of all the great cars, but if I had to choose just one if each then these are the ones :)

Well it all depends on what you are into

If you like the Tamiya SRB's then cars like the Cox/Kyosho Scorpion a hopped up SRB made of aftermarket parts and an AYK 566b would be must haves

Tamiya Fox

Team Associated RC 10

Kyosho Ultima

Tamiya Hotshot

Yokomo yz834

Kyosho Optima

Tamiya TA-01

Hpi RS4 original

Kyosho TF-1

Cool. I see that there is some cars here i will need to google and read more about.

Hmmm, if the Egress is not considered a vintage car it would be hard for me to pick another one... Maybe the Porsche 959 dakar then.

Thanks, i must agree :-)

It's just me showing my age there, I started off with a sand rover as a present, first car I bought myself was a grasshopper, followed by a hotshot in 1985, last Tamiya car I bought in before getting into 1:1 money pits was a vanquish, and that seemed like a 'new' design. :)

There's vintage and then there's VINTAGE.

I personally think that a must have Tamiya Vintage would really be from the 1st 50 rather than 1st 100.

I'd agree with you on this John.

For me personally, the 'newest' car I think of as truly vintage, old school design, was the frog, possibly the FAV. After that, you can start to see modern buggy design creeping in on most models, even on the likes of the grasshopper / hotshot. (1 piece wheels, double wishbone suspension, and mid engine layout on the hotshot).

Looking at the model list now though in 2013, the first 100 (or 107..) do seem to have the most original designs, before most models evolved into 1 size fits all, variations on a similar theme.

I agree on that, that the first 50 would be the real old school vintage rc cars, but..... :-) i don't like their strategy now days to make one chassie and just make about 10-20 different body's, 2-3 would be ok.. They need to be more innovative than that. Ok so they made the 501, 502x which is awesome, but i would like to see som oldschool design that have been modified to cope with todays tech....

Anyway

Is there any other Brand that got some awesome vintage cars that haven't been mention yet?

The only ones I had any real interest in were Tamiya, kyosho, and Schumacher, and couldn't afford anything Schumacher back then

The only other I can think that hasn't been mentioned yet was the PB Ace, which was a rear engine belt driven 4wd. They also did the mini mustang which I seem to remember having some racing success, but the Ace is a very rare model to find indeed.

Same here, a friend of me bought a Schumacher but it was quite expensive. but I also remeber being a tamiya fanatic so I couldn't understand why anyone would even consider bying anything else :)

The PB Ace looks like a cool car that I would love to have in my collection, but i guess as you say it's a very rare model and would be hard to get by.

Back in about 1990 I bought a friends Ace from him for I think the princely sum of £30. Can't remember what happened to it but I know it got sold on / traded in at some point not long after. Only one word for that. Doh ! <_<
