If you peruse the for sale section you might have noticed that I was trying to sell my original Avante with a NIB technigold. I must have been asking pre rere Avante prices because no one bit. I sold my extra TF EVO. Ive decided to keep the Avante, build and install the ball differentials, and run it with the Technigold!!!! I plan on replacing the original shocks with the slightly updated rere bodies and replacing the fragile uprights as well. They wee built to run after all!!!!

Oh man. If you're planning on running, you may want to sell the old school diffs to a collector and use the modern versions instead. The old ones take more than a few hours of work to get them to run smooth & even. The diff plates & thrust plates are so far from flat it isn't even funny (almost conical in spots). Plus each diff has two thrust bearings which means there are 6 surfaces that require leveling and polishing per diff. I spent a few days making mine as perfect as possible.

Also, consider the re-re hi-caps instead of the re-re gold cylinders. You will probably find zero performance difference between the old & new gold cylinders, so your money is definitely better spent on the larger/smoother versions. Of course I'm sure re-re high caps are probably a bit more $$'s...

I appreciate the advice! However Im going to stick with the Egress diffs. I have a BS Aavnte and the modern ball dif set up is amazing. However, I even tried to sell the ball diff kit for 50 and no one bit, so I took it as a sign to go for it. I never had an issue with my Astute or Hilux ball diffs so I have faith in the set up. They might not be as smooth as you pointed out but they will be good for the occasional visit to the track. Ill be running this one with the one way. I have the BS set up with three ball diffs. Proabably going to upgrade the BS to new Hicaps and put the new gold ones on the OG Avante when I run it along with the Rere Body as I dont want to wreck the vintage decals.

Level both sides of each diff plate & thrust washer. You won't regret it. Get a couple sheets of 400 grit wet/dry. Start dry and move to soapy water for final finishing. You'll be able to tell when they are flat. Definitely worth it.
