Finally finished painting mine. I left the undertray clear. This is just a basic paint job that I would have done back in the day. This is awesome looking buggy. Mine is just a shelf queen.

Looks superb! :wub:What did you think of the build?  I thought it was going to be one of those kit a bit like a classic Schumacher where the instructions are just a guide line but how wrong is was it was probably one of the best kits I’ve ever built! I did a retro colour and kept my undertray clear aswell so you can see all the chassis and workings my one isn’t seeing much action aswell but I have taken it out in the garden and it’s very smooth

Love the purple you did. They are smooth cars. I bet it glides thru the grass. The instructions weren't too bad, I did ok.  There's no vintage racing here where I live or I may be tempted to take it out.

Where are these Masami flames decals coming from I keep seeing? Are they MCI? The last decals I got from them wouldnt have been anywhere near as flexible enough to go around those curves.

I did get a bit carried away with my rere. Decided to throw the baby out with the bath water and turn it into more od a works.

Yes, they are from MCI. I use a tool to smooth the lines and generous dose of heatgun to make the stickers compliant.

I have noticed that parts are up on the Yokomo website, and also at RC Mart.  So looks like these can be run now without worry!  My new excuse for not having opened my kit is that there is no way I could finish one nearly as well as some of you have already!

Very nice builds, all! I can see many improvements over the YZ-10 which was my last car before leaving the hobby (car portion anyways) for some time. The original was brittle but fast as #$&@, and aside from the magnesium that could be broken in a bad crash the worst parts of these early Yoks were the front A-arms designs of simply not being tough enough at the inner pivot locations, and they just snapped from simple traction rolling or endoing. The nylon that they’ve chosen for the rere here seems like it’d be far tougher than the hard plastic compound of the OG YZ-10’s front suspension.

We used to dye all of our naked nylon parts using Ritz and fairly hot but not boiling dye baths. Has anyone taken the time/risk to see about how well these modern plastics might take to customization?

edit: how are the modern shocks implementations improved over the originals? They look larger bore but it has been oh, 35 years or so since I saw my original Yokomos. Thanks!

Wow, really handsome color scheme and the lines complement the forms nicely. What body is this?

I wasn't very keen on the rere 870c in the beginning, and may never get one (expensive) but does anyone of you really run yours?

Is there Any difference other then the body?

Looks like white wheels. I assume some kind of AE badge on the box? From what I recall the original US version YZ-10 had white wheels, Protech IV body and I think better shocks, but the Yokomo re-re 870c seems to be the same as this AE re-re aside from body and different color wheels. I assume they will have these parts available at some point but otherwise the aftermarket has this covered 👍

These seem to be getting thin on the ground - have Yokomo discontinued them?  The last few seem to have been blown out on sale and it doesn't look like any more are coming?

Apparently the YZ-834B Wonder Dogfighter is coming next, in autumn.

Yep, I heard that.  So Yokomo seems to be doing a batch or batches of each one then they stop, unlike some Tamiya models and Kyosho's Legendary cars.
