FAV based Chenowth Sand Rail

Recommended Posts

Toykid,

I love your work, and always wished Tamiya made something like this. The dual rear dampers are the biz, but maybe you could take some inspiration from Trezas Kikaku's builds.

Just my opinion, but your shocks are a bit too vertical. Making rear swing arm shock mounts like this will give them a nice angle.

I have only just seen this build!

OMG that thing is awesome! Love the detail. I will take note and use some off his ideas I think on my own sand rail.

The driver looks a lot better now he has a full set of 4 point harnesses. I think the blue pops nicely against the red.

I used Shoe Goo to fix the driver to the seat. Those harnesses take forever to build and adjust, but I think they're worth it.

Hi James,

can I ask you a favour? I would be interested in some close ups of your dual shock mounts. I have several solutions in mind, but those require fabrication of new parts or drilling holes in the swing arms...

Thanks in advance

Fantastic. Awesome. Inspiring. This build personifies everything that's great about Tamiya and scale R/C.

Please make that driver available as well - it's just perfect as is and Christmas is coming! :)

Hats off to Toykid....

James, the driver really looks great! When do you estimate he will be available to order? I just ordered a complete Sand Rail Chassis kit and I'm keen for the driver too.

Cheers

Thomas

Thanks Thomas,

The driver needed some fixes before I can make it available. I have been busy finishing my Jeep project, but he should be available early next year.

James.

I have been working on a ally fav to go with my wildone and had a go at modelling the gun from the original.thought it may look good with the, is it a 50cal on the military verison of yours.had fun trying to do this

think this would be a little tricky to make from alloy. detailing is very small.i would have to get specialist cutters to make these

Looks well modelled boxartparts. Are the different colours seperate pieces? It could do with a proper 7.62 ammo canister but then so could the original!

yes the different colours are different models. the original is in two parts. I would have to join the purple section to the rest of the gun to look like the original. I will have a look for a canister and see if I can add one on.good idea

Hi James,

Any progress on making the driver figure available?

On sale now, but I couldn't fix the t-shirt, so if you want one, you have to have the "thrashed" look logo.

I don't suppose you can scale that driver up easily to go in a 1:8.5 Land Rover Defender?

As somebody who knows nothing at all about CAD or 3D printing, I would assume that it is very easy to programme the existing drawings to print at 110% or something like that...

I must buy this diver, it will be so much better than having wild Willy in the diver Seat. For me i don't care about the t-shirt, it looks just like when my favourite shirt when washed a mllions time :-)

Hi James,

Sorry, haven't logged in for awhile and I can't find the driver on shapeways to purchase per your post above on 1/19.  I'd like to get at least a few of them.   Can you guide me to the correct location to purchase?

Just search  Knight Customs on shapeways and you'll find his shop....

www.knightcustoms.com will take you straight to our shapeways page. Just watch the spelling as people often incorrectly type knightScustom.

Seems like quite a few members have gotten Wild One's recently so I thought I'd bump this for inspiration. Enjoy.
