Jamesssb 237 Posted August 18, 2014 Toykid, I love your work, and always wished Tamiya made something like this. The dual rear dampers are the biz, but maybe you could take some inspiration from Trezas Kikaku's builds. http://trezas-kikaku.blog.so-net.ne.jp/archive/c2300853540-1 Just my opinion, but your shocks are a bit too vertical. Making rear swing arm shock mounts like this will give them a nice angle. -Matt I have only just seen this build! OMG that thing is awesome! Love the detail. I will take note and use some off his ideas I think on my own sand rail. J
Toykid 595 Posted August 18, 2014 The driver looks a lot better now he has a full set of 4 point harnesses. I think the blue pops nicely against the red. I used Shoe Goo to fix the driver to the seat. Those harnesses take forever to build and adjust, but I think they're worth it.
bsy2010 218 Posted September 2, 2014 Hi James, can I ask you a favour? I would be interested in some close ups of your dual shock mounts. I have several solutions in mind, but those require fabrication of new parts or drilling holes in the swing arms... Thanks in advance
Toykid 595 Posted September 4, 2014 You got it! Update coming soon.

TamiyaMan 5 Posted November 3, 2014 Fantastic. Awesome. Inspiring. This build personifies everything that's great about Tamiya and scale R/C. Please make that driver available as well - it's just perfect as is and Christmas is coming! Hats off to Toykid....
Champ85 608 Posted November 6, 2014 So, uh, while this thread is not directly related, I figured this was a good spot to put this since Toykid started this thread: Top 10 3D printed items at Shapeways for the month of October 2014: http://3dprint.com/22846/shapeways-top-sellers-october/ Check out #9. TamTom 367 Posted November 17, 2014 James, the driver really looks great! When do you estimate he will be available to order? I just ordered a complete Sand Rail Chassis kit and I'm keen for the driver too. Cheers Thomas
Toykid 595 Posted December 19, 2014 Thanks Thomas, The driver needed some fixes before I can make it available. I have been busy finishing my Jeep project, but he should be available early next year. James.
boxartparts 16 Posted February 21, 2015 I have been working on a ally fav to go with my wildone and had a go at modelling the gun from the original.thought it may look good with the, is it a 50cal on the military verison of yours.had fun trying to do this think this would be a little tricky to make from alloy. detailing is very small.i would have to get specialist cutters to make these
mr crispy 2293 Posted February 25, 2015 Looks well modelled boxartparts. Are the different colours seperate pieces? It could do with a proper 7.62 ammo canister but then so could the original!
boxartparts 16 Posted March 1, 2015 yes the different colours are different models. the original is in two parts. I would have to join the purple section to the rest of the gun to look like the original. I will have a look for a canister and see if I can add one on.good idea
TamiyaMan 5 Posted January 3, 2016 Hi James, Any progress on making the driver figure available?
Toykid 595 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi James, Any progress on making the driver figure available? On sale now, but I couldn't fix the t-shirt, so if you want one, you have to have the "thrashed" look logo.
njmlondon 570 Posted January 19, 2016 On sale now, but I couldn't fix the t-shirt, so if you want one, you have to have the "thrashed" look logo. I don't suppose you can scale that driver up easily to go in a 1:8.5 Land Rover Defender? As somebody who knows nothing at all about CAD or 3D printing, I would assume that it is very easy to programme the existing drawings to print at 110% or something like that... bjorklo 1620 Posted February 7, 2016 I must buy this diver, it will be so much better than having wild Willy in the diver Seat. For me i don't care about the t-shirt, it looks just like when my favourite shirt when washed a mllions time :-)
TamiyaMan 5 Posted June 17, 2016 Hi James, Sorry, haven't logged in for awhile and I can't find the driver on shapeways to purchase per your post above on 1/19. I'd like to get at least a few of them. Can you guide me to the correct location to purchase?
