As the title really, what is the most you have spent on a NIB vintage kit and why were you so desperate to have it?

I get tempted by Porsche 959 kits every time they appear on eBay but I don't think I can justify the cost even though I really want one!

For me I spent $500 on the porsche anniversary 934. Not sure why I had to have it :)

I don't have any original NIB's just re-re's. all my originals are new builds or restores and actually work out more expensive than getting a NIB.

I spent £500 on an original lancia rally a few years back only cause I was trying to collect all the orv chassis cars nib. I did succeed but then since sold. My biggest purchase was probably my knight hauler. I kept all the receipts and think it was around £700 ish

I would have to say it was $800 for a NIB super champ but I've spent more on a full option knight hauler, full option High lift and a full option Pershing tank.

I bought a NIB 959 in '02 for $500 which seemed a lot of money then but would be a steal now. My King Tiger ended up being my most expensive purchase so far though.

njmlondon, do you want to sell your 959?!

I've been watching 959s and Celicas on eBay. The last Celica went for $1,625, a 959 for $1,995 and there's one currently up for over $2k! That's over £1,200. I'd like one but I don't think I can justify it. Have to hope for a re-re but I read somewhere that the molds have been destroyed.

With all the pieces that went with it, the flatbed trailer was by far the most expensive. It makes that NIB 959 look cheap. I count the misfires and redesign costs in it too

£170 for a King Tiger with the clutch gearbox in, back in late 2006. Absolute bargain, which I built.

I suppose the interesting question, whats the most expensive NIB kit you've bought, then built and run ??????

If I still had it, there is no way I would sell it! I was an idiot and sold it ages ago... I am actually keen to try to rebuy it!

I just wanted to add, the 959 on eBay for $2,000 still hasn't sold.

That is just a silly price... I have seen them go for £750 so about $125 but not much more than that. I have been tracking them for over a decade now.
