hi,

seen the new repro-brad/mud blaster body on the bay,

high price!

US68 .. oef!

to find, will also fit TL01 ...

mmm, i guess this is a "i am the first so i am expencive price", think i'll have to wait until the price get more sane ;)

I do hope the also run a other series with windows & extra bits!

regards, Stefan

The listing that I saw said that it came with 'D','E' and 'L' parts, so you get tailgate and windows - couldn't find the 'L' parts in the manual though [?] Would this be the bullbar and roll-bar?

I thought that the price didn't look too bad - I have certainly spent more than that getting the new bits to restore an 'original' Brat body together (and I still need to get the 'clear' glass).

I think if you compare the costs to other current "hard bodies" - the price is actually not that bad...specially considering the fact that if it wasnt for them offering it - you would never see it!

He had another batch of 8 or 10 sets in a dutch auction for $58 each yesterday. But that batch was gone in one day. So I imaging the current batch will be gone soon too. Since the current bacth is already $10 more, the next batch (if there is a next batch) will probably be even higher as he depletes his inventory. These re-release body kits have mounts to fit TL01 cars. So grab them while you can.

I dunno why I even need one at the mo, but I just bought one too.

We pay the best part of $60 for a Tamiya lexan bod over here, so that aint too bad a price!

Thanks guys for pointing these out, I somehow missed them in my daily ebay search. Been after one for some time now -$68 is a very fair price. Now I can finally begin my Brat resto.[:D][:D][:D]

I just grabbed one myself. Used chassis go cheap, so it should be easy to build a shelf model. I was wondering what trees are missing so I can go hunt down the final parts? What are the A, B, C trees? If the driver is missing, I'm sure the driver from the Blackfoot may work?

Doh! Darn that BIN button [:(!] [;)] Looks like I got one too.

According to Jason's listing, the accompanying parts are 'D' (tailgate, driver), 'E' (glass) and 'L' (which I couldn't find in the manual). Hopefully 'L' is the rollbar and bullbar...

The upshot of this is that I will probably have an 'original' shell (needs renovating) and associated NIP bits to sell/trade soon, so watch the trade room [:)]

Its certainly an interesting move and makes you wonder what others are just around the corner....

If you've been hording any NIB body sets for the past few years and planning your next egg - I'd be thinking about maybe off loading some stock [;)] Sure there will aways be purists around looking out for the originals, its just that they are going to get harder to find, as lots of the people looking will settle for the repros...

Seems strange they missed a couple or three really nice ones[;)]

I know what you guys mean about what might be lurking around the corner. Tamiya may never reissue the metal series buggies or 3-speeds, but they are completely capable of reissuing old bodies.

I mean a set of bruiser body kit they can ask for 100 USD and people would fight to get them. Of course the volume of sales wont be as high as one of their R/C kits but I think its more profitable than lets say a Xr311 or Celica body rereleases.

just a tought,

they just canceled some cars..

they do have the stuff to make it all, a factory line at a stand-still cost a lot of $$$'s ..

They might just thinking.... "what can we make what will sell anyway until we can make something diffrent".

But, if they are busy anyway, do some '58 blackfoot body's to please!!

and.. ehhm, some pajero's ...

I know a friend of mine was at the Tamiya world championships last year and he said they had classic Tamiya RC races. The cars they used included the first Porsche 934 and 6 wheel Tyrrells etc. Maybe they race the Brat in some offroad class which is why they re-release it.

Strange it fits a TL-01 chassis. Maybe this was just to make it slightly more appealing. Brat body might even look better on a correct scale and style of chassis rather than the original, bit like the Lancia rally. The re-release looks better than the original.

I reckon the Sand Scorcher mold got lost/destroyed anyway, as I can't see the point in re-tooling for the Blitzer and Monster beetle if they didn't have to[:(]

Whats a TL01 chassis?[?]

Am I missing something here, that looks exactly like the original BRAT body to me. Now I admit I don't have a TL01, but surely they're the same wheelbase as the stndard TA-01, TA-02 chassis (256mm is it?).

I have had an original BRAT body sitting around for ages, but no cash for a chassis. In a moment of boredom I thought I'd it on a beat up TA-02 chassis. Now this was a while ago, but I clearly remember the wheelbase was way to long for the body.

So, are these bodies different to the originals? do they still have the big wheelarches, or have they changesd the arches to increase the wheelbase. Doesn't seem very likeley to me.

I would love to see one of these as well. Does anyone have pictures to verify this claim?[?]
