Hello guys,

I thought I would share my latest Tamiya, built after a couple of years off :)

This will not be a built thread like some of the fantastic ones on here as I am far too novice to try anything of that detail, but will hopefully show a little of the order things went together and perhaps convert a few more people into stadium blitzer lovers :P

As a complete Monster beetle nut I have never really got on with the looks of the Blitzer beetle for some reason but after falling in love with the monster racer hi lux back in the day I had to have a stadium blitzer as I see it as the hi lux's natural successor.

Anyway firstly the unboxing... sadly I must of been so exited I totally forgot to take a picture (I did say I was novice) so we better move on to the gearbox ;)

Then it was time to fit the motor, firstly it was going to be powered by a GT tuned motor

But then I spotted this on ebay

A couple of clicks later and it was mine...

But firstly it was time to attach the rear wishbones,

New motor fitted

Time to fit the gearbox to the chassis and install the servo,

After that you have to build up the front end and wishbones,

Esc and RX installed

Then its time to build up the oil filled dampers, sadly I did not take detail photos of this but I am sure most of you have built more CVA's than I have had hot dinners, this is where I had my first little nightmare...

I could not get the lower mounts on the rear dampers to tap on far enough and there was too much exposed thread on the shaft. So I thought if I found the correct screw size with the same thread length it would be easier to pre tap the lower mounts...

And it was, sadly the result is this :(

A nice stress mark on both sides  They do feel quite sturdy but I have already ordered two replacements in case these let go.

Here is a picture of the complete tub and dampers :)

So then it was time to paint, I was all ready to go box art white until I spotted a TC members showroom then the decision to go PS23 gunmetal was an easy one

I think it gives a really great finish and looks much less toy like than the white, I also decided to use fewer stickers on the theory that less is more.

I hope you like it, here is a picture with my other tamiya.

My wife has just ordered a lunchbox black edition for my birthday so I am looking forward to building that next!

Thanks for looking!

Nice build Andy and a nice little collection there - i love gunmetal myself, just wish someone would do a slightly lighter version for a subtle change.

Look forward to the VLBBE build

Nice!! reverse the left side steering knuckle to the right side and make the ball joints at the bottom of the steering knuckles you will get way less bump steer when you compress the front suspension down and it will work much better.

Thanks guys, I will take a look at swapping those over next week, will I need to extend the steering arms if I swap them round? It looks like I will need to looking at the distances.

Nope nothing needed at all all stock parts work just fine when doing the old switch aroo!

Another very worthwhile modification is to replace the top links with adjustable ones . This allows you to dial in some camber and it rally makes a big difference to the handling .

Very nice looking build. Like the colour... Was that motor ok with the stock ESC ?

I have not run it yet as its been wet here but general reading suggests it should be ok, time will tell I guess. :)

Nice build, the colour really works well. I keep looking at these and Blitzer Beetles and now you're making them look even more tempting!! :)

Rob you NEED a Blitzer Beetle mate . Their great fun and the gearbox is bullet proof . They cope with brushless really well

Arron, you're a bad influence! :)

...um, where can I get a cheap one?

I am sure there is a stadium blitzer on the bay at the moment ;)

Thats a good price, my blitzer was £119 delivered off the bay via modelsport, I had to buy bearings tho, so very similar.

I don't know if I should feel good or bad I just cost you £127. :P

Congratulations, I look forward to your build thread :)
