In theory this sounds OK to me provided the battery is big capacity and high C rating, coupled to two lowish rated ESCs/motors

The reason i ask is because in my mod Clod i'm running two brushless ESC/3500kV motor combos. I'd prefer to run from a single 2S battery pack - for weight, centre of gravity and battery placement reasons.

So is there anything to stop me doing this, other than the fact I'm struggling to find a suitable battery to ESC harness (Deans) ?

Battery is 5600mAh 50C-100C discharge so capable of 280A continuous discharge

Making a Y htarness for twins is pretty easy to do, that's the easy part. Then it's a Y adapter from the radio, still easy. The hard part is getting the 2 to pull together. I've got that same type of setup on my Clod crawler and getting 2 matching ESCs and motors to set up was a challenge. One or the other always wanted to pull harder or start rotating before the other and cause one motor to always heat up. I've tried brushless and finally went back to 55 turn motors but still had to try several ESCs to find ones that really worked together

It's just an idea, but I'd look into the possibility of splitting off the 3 wire going to the motors and running a single ESC.

I have just done this on my Blackfoot, just made a simple "Y" harness for the battery, and a "Y" harness into receiver. I do have a pic in my 4wd blackfoot thread.

I use a lipo and alarm.

This may sound silly, but why not just buy a high rated brushless esc that has twin motor output functions? 1 esc and twin motors, . I know Novak used to do a brushless esc that had this option.

Cheers guys - just wanted to check I wasn't completely off track. Managed to find a battery y harness so I don't have to fire up the soldering iron :)

Dave. - time will tell whether this works out but the clod always had issues applying power to all wheels correctly in rough ground conditions. I've got brushed ESC and motor options to fall back on if needbe.

James simple reason is that I already have the brushless combos, plus I always thought brushless motors needed dedicated ESCs for rotor feedback. Seems Novak may have got round that with a doubled up ESC.

Be interesting to see how you get on with this and how well both esc's and motors are matched. Sounds like you might possibly have different power to each gear box but you wont know until you've tried it. I was thinking about what different setups might work on my Dualhunter. I'm thinking of running a 3s and 2 550s but can't find one to fit.

do you have an receiver with a third channel, you could run the two esc seperatly and mix them with the transmitter.

Thats how they do twin motor crawlers, then you even can dig your clod. :)

I had that planned for my Wild Dagger (another delayed project) combined with dual steer.

So i am able to dig my crabby Wild Dagger.

I tried both. Ran mine off a y harness and 3rd channel and it didnt make a difference so just run one off the third channel. I do get stall sometimes if I hammer it while its creeping forward and then slam the throttle. I am using a tunigy 6000 65-130c with two trackstar 80a escs and 4000kvs. I want more though ;) Might look into picking up a 3s.
