I don't Rob, but I've used coat hanger wire in the past :P Got to source some M3 rod as I don't know where to look. Now the ball joints. Do the current ball joint connectors not work?

Many thanks for the help

If I remember correctly the ball joints are an integrated part of the Wild Willy 2 uprights and can't be removed. The TL01 uprights use a separate screw-in ball joint.

EB,

Yes of course! Just have to be real gentle. I've already had to do a couple of repairs :P

Many thanks for the compliment :)

I don't know if they are available anymore, but RC4WD did have hex adapters that let you run 12mm hex wheels on the front of a 2wd (i have two pairs I bought when they were discontinued at one time). I think they have a new version.

Also on the subject of RC4WD, I would check out their military tires. They have the exact style as what's on the real jeeps.

I presume you mean these?

Out of stock at the moment...

For info, I did the conversion to a WR-02 chassis using the TL-01 uprights and M-05 axles - works perfectly well if you want to fit Hex wheels all-round using all Tamiya parts...

It seems to me that the 'problem' with the RC4WD adaptor is there are no bearings, and that the wheel-nut would need to be left slightly loose so the wheel can spin on that hub? - I'm sure it works fine, but ultimately is a compromise that isn't 100% efficient?

I have however, come up with a hub solution that I feel is far better technically - and hopefully the 3D prototypes will be tested/available soon...

There will be more info in my SRB Cage Racer thread soon I hope!

Jx

You are indeed correct. No bearing capability. Also, it is a lot narrower than a stock or HPI wheel. So a spacer is need.

Not the best solution by any means.
