With (only) new C part and M part Tamiya made a new model.

All the remaining parts are from DT-02.

More I know about this model less I like. :S

I continue to prefer the DT-02.

The above link, put into an image:

This now vaguely reminds me of the TRF Frog that was completed here some time ago on TC.

Thank Grastens for putting this as an image! Somehow I don´t get it fixed now, why it doesn´t appear as an image!

the more I look at this car the more I was not impressed. :o

>>>>>>>>> However <<<<<<<<<<<<<

Thanks to GregM posting the link for the instructions :D >>>>>>>>>>> How many people have looked ?????

I have now been able to see that at last, Tamiya have finally seen the fact you need rear anti squat !!!

Looking at the instructions you can see parts C3 being placed under the gearbox, the one at the front 'looks' thicker than the rear although they have the same part number.

The point being ...... I can mess around with the car and get some anti squat :D

The front steering is still pants with no bell crank but is better than the DT02.

The chassis is still a horrible moulded mess but at least there is potential.

Plus how long before 3Racing pick up on doing a Carbon Fibre chassis conversion ???? >>> That would be a nice touch and make a much better car.

Looking at the latest pics and video, I've come to the conclusion, this is bloomin 'orrible, ugly as sin, i hate those awful wheels, and it has very little of that classic appeal the Grasshopper, Hornet and Frog had, sorry fellas but its a stinker for me.

Well I like the fact they are using decent rod ends for the steering rods, and the c anti squat parts look a little promising. However I can't see the anti squat being adjustable as the entire rear assembly has to lock into the upper receptacle of the chassis. Plastic did ones and drive cups put this at the holiday buggy end of the range, do further iterations will surely follow with CVAs and metal drive.

I'm not bothering at this stage, there's something about the long wheelbase that just looks a little odd to me , made worse by the video clip of it sliding over the ramp edges.

The DT-01 had a rather long wheelbase of 284mm, which isn't too far off the DT-03. I can imagine there'll be reinterpretations of the Grasshopper and Hornet, too.

Haven't really paid much attention to this on, but after looking a bit at it, I doubt it will be a perfect runner, but anyway, it is a Tamiya buggy for a very decent price, so I guess it will take part in my growing buggycollection :)

I love the DT-03 already. The DT-02 is good for the purposes it was made for and I'm fully convinced that Tamiya have done their homework with the DT-03 and although they've had a few misses in the past, I'm confident that the DT-03 will be (somewhat) better than the DT-02.

As for the body and overall look, it doesn't have to look (exactly) like the original Frog as we have been given the re-re Frog already, so I think it's perfectly OK that the Neo has just a few vague design clues from the original Frog. OK, so it looks a little less cute with the long wheelbase, but I think the criticism would had been massive if the DT-03 had the 250mm wheelbase of the ORV, 10mm shorter than the DT-02.

For those that want a cuter retro-look, adding a driver, headlights at the lower ends of the A-pillars, a few stickers from the Frog, the Neo Frog paintscheme and maybe pink wheelnuts to underline the theme, is imho all it takes. The scope for customizing is great, I just wish Tamiya would offer the hop-ups not just anodized blue, but pink also, like they did for the GB-01/-02.

If this comes out with a new hornet body I'm all over that like a rash... that would make my year. Umm...might just do it them colors etc anyway when mine arrives.

I intend to get one, I am also a big fan of the DT02, great basher and has been mentioned here you are able to potentially tune it a little further than the DT02, so it will be a easter present for me (Especially as it comes with a speedo that can run brushless).

When I receive my DT-03's in the mail, I will also get my first brushless-capable speed control in the box. I still do not own a brushless motor. Odd since I am a huge motor guy. (or I guess I'm not?)

Im pre-ordering from fusion now

I had a look at the manual and I think it takes 14 1150 bearings, so I'm ordering those too :)

Yes, necessarily the same as the DT-02 as all parts relevant for the bearings are identical, so 14 pcs. 1150 is correct.

I have done some looking in to the esc, the spec says it does not support lipo or life batteries

As usual with Tamiya ESC's, the TBLE-02S doesn't support Lipo, a clearly thoroughly reviewed decision that one may or may not approve of, but which obviously makes sense to Tamiya. But being Tamiya, it of course has a programmable low-voltage (5V) protection for LiFe:

Without causing a stir, 5V is fine

The car will slow down and start stalling on acceleration before hand when on acceleration as the lipo will dump. I never use lipo cut-off on my cars anyway I just pick them up once they start going slow.

that's odd as it clearly say's the esc does not support liFe batteries so how can it have the cut off !!

just another useless Tamiya esc for the bin >>>>>In my world anyway<<<<<<< before anyone shouts !!

Who claims that it doesn't? As for practically all information about Tamiya items, unless from Tamiya Japan themselves, I wouldn't trust it too much.

And the instruction sheet states rather clearly that a low voltage cut-off is incorporated. Though the instruction sheet doesn't specifically mention that the limit is 5V, other relatively credible information sources do, and the instruction sheet states that the ESC is suitable for 6.6-7.2V, which is a very strong indication that it's intended for LiFe too.
