Mokei,

fed up of arguing with you.

You clearly know more than anyone else on the planet.

Well, have I ever claimed that? I just referred to and linked to the instruction sheet, where you could easily see yourself that a low voltage cut-off is described as one of the features and that the ESC is specified for 6.6-7.2V. That's pretty solid information from Tamiya and not about me pretending to "know(ing) more", is it?

You wrote "it clearly say's the esc does not support" and I just asked where you had that information from. I didn't even say that the information necessarily had to be wrong, but that I trust Tamiya Japan more than I trust any other source when it comes to information about Tamiya items. But I understand that I should never have dared presenting any information that is possibly in conflict with your "absolute truths", although you unlike me don't even care to document your claims.

If pointing at verified information is a crime, I'm certainly guilty as charged.

I guess this model will attract new comers to RC. Old foggies are happy with the re releases. I am still waiting for a new release that i would race to my LHS and put down my hard earn money. It has been over 5 years :o(

eBay item 310838731900 - read the specs, yes straight from Tamiya......second line down.....not suitable with liPo or liFe batteries......

I cannot put up the link as this archaic web site is never up dated.

Thank you.

As far as I can see that's an auction text written by the seller, not "straight from Tamiya". Or do you mean that the seller IS Tamiya? I don't know who this seller is, but judging by the selection of items, it could be a major UK reseller or even the UK distributor for all I know, but I still can't possibly understand how a text in an auction should be a more credible information source than the scan of an original Tamiya instruction sheet?

The scan I linked to is hosted by the Tamiya USA website, and I think that anyone with a bit of experience knows that Tamiya Japan is by far a better and more credible information source than Tamiya USA is. The Tamiya USA webpage is littered with incorrect information (as often documented here on TC) and nobody there seems to have the knowledge, ambitions or even integrity required to ensure that they generally provide correct information, even though it's must surely be part of their job. We all make errors, but after all this isn't rocket science, but just a matter of meticulously forwarding information provided by Tamiya Japan and along the way correct any information that might be wrong. I reckon most of us have more challenging jobs than that......

So I would be the first to agree that a scan provided by Tamiya USA might possibly be incorrect, an outdated version, falsified or whatever. If it hadn't been a scan, but instead "free" text by Tamiya USA, I wouldn't have trusted the information for a second. Unfortunately the manual isn't available on the Tamiya Japan download page, so it isn't easy to crosscheck. Still, with the lack of better sources (afaik?) and without firsthand experience with the ESC, I trust a scan of the instruction sheet and other pretty credible sources more than I trust an auction text. Also, I think it's rather logical that Tamiya will integrate LiFe-cutoff in any ESC released after they started selling LiFe batteries themselves, but of course anyone is free to make up her/his own mind. Sooner or later we will know for sure, and I simply can't wait to get my hands on a DT-03. :D

...and of course Torque Tuned and the BL ESC. Excellent value for money and though I've bought one I can't wait to see what body Tamiya will put on the next DT-03 kit.

Seidel has just two kits and Tamico six kits left in stock at the moment. So hurry on! ;)

Seidel now has one kit :D

Great opportunity for me to get the Tamtech 935 Martini decals at a great price too (avoiding the silly 10euro shipping for just a set of decals :D).

Top notch service I have to say - within 45 minutes of placing my order i had a despatch notice and tracking number

This video by the well known Grahoo shows the DT-03 Neo Fighter Buggy performing in both stock form with friction shocks as well as hopped up with oil dampers.

I'm new here and will start a thread elsewhere with the others in the household if that's ok, but in the meantime here's mine...

Stock (at the moment) apart from bearings

One thing I have noticed is that the rear end is quite 'tight' with very little rebound so an upgrade / new springs is in order. Also the CVA shocks have a push rod and damper 'bit' that one pice of metal whereas CVA shocks with a DF02 have plastic plates with different numbers of holes and tiny clips that spring around the room. The DT03 shocks also have less 'coils' and a spacer.

Oh, and the Tamiya esc took forever to set up for brushed because the button is way too small and stiff and you couldn't be sure if you'd actually pressed it !

Finally, if anyone has a spare spoiler, "No Guts No Glory Sticker" and a couple of small 'Frog' stickers I'd hapily take them off your hands, one too many upside down moments has resulted in a little bit of damage, it does wheelie quite well though :D

The rear spoiler can take a bash if you flip it... I have spare frog stickers... Mine with the brushless 3000kv in it is a great basher... Lots of underwater mind

It seems to have gone a bit quiet on the DT03 front. Hardly anyone mentions them anymore, there have been no dedicated races for them or a mixed DT02/03 race. It'd be interesting to see how these cars differ in competition. And Mr. T hasn't announced a new buggy on the DT03 chassis yet, if he ever does. An updated Hornet body and paint job might work.

Apart from the possibility of a DT03 race at next years DT02 meeting, does anyone know if there is anything happening with the DT03. Is it going to be another loner, like the Fox?

hi guys, i'm building a dt03 at the moment and I want the (4.8mm??) suspension top mount pillows like in this TRF hop up kit?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-54562-RC-DT03-Front-Carbon-Damper-Stay-Shock-Tower-Set-/131140417753?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item1e8893f8d9

Does anyone know if the pillows and nuts are available for any other model or just as spares?

The standard ones screw in from the rear which is a bit silly given that the chassis blocks them being easily taken out, so in order to tune and improve things i'd like the upgrade but I have a 3racing top shaft so didn't get the pillows with it.

I got the model for £85 with Torque tuned Tamiya 540, CVA set and a brushless ready ESC. The build was easy but some parts just seemed silly like the gearbox mounts being placed in afterwards? Surely a slot in side to side design would have worked well here and been stronger, else make them out of metal like the hopups and not plastic. I'll pop a pic up in a bit once the paint has dried, mines gone very FROG and the Pink is strong with this one. Cheers

hi, just search for Tamiya ball connector , the correct Tamiya ones are listed as 5mm in various colours and materials but your 3 racing items may need 4.8 , it should say in the guide sheet that comes with the 3 racing arms .

Hi, thanks for the answer, noob question but is the 5mm not the head then but the threaded area? I've not had to mess around with these previously so don't know what i'm looking at. A set of 5mm Tamiya ones are available for not a lot of $$ so I can grab them. The posts sadly didn't come with any info just with allen head screws included. I wonder if they do them in pink? :) [Edit, work in progress below]

its the ball diameter , there are long and short versions , the short ones may cause the upper arm to rub on the damper springs so go for the long type , they also come in stud type ( the screw portion is attached to the ball ) and ball nut connector type ( which are the ones you want as they are far stronger ) , here is a pic of mine with the tamiya items ,aecd2435-ecd9-4e45-a711-c489106d162d_zps 3 racing do the ball studs in pink , just search for 3racing sakura ball connector

;)

i think i have my wires crossed , you have the 3 racing shock towers not upper suspension arms ! , you will need 5mm ball connectors for the Tamiya dampers

Posted

depends , i find them useful for adjusting in varying conditions but ,try your car then consider if it needs adjustablity , too much or too little grip can ruin the fun ;):)
