Another site I use has this "@mention" feature where you can mention a member and they get a notification to the thread where they were mentioned.

This can be really handy if you want to draw someone's attention to a thread.

Is there any chance this feature could be turned on, on Tamiyaclub?

So I say @TWINSET and he gets a red envelope telling him that I mentioned him in this thread.

That's a good idea . When you have received help , advise or just inspiration from another TC member it would be good to be able to give credit where credit is due

Yes, @Gruntfuggly, it's the same IPBoard, very similar layout, just not RC related.

If the feature was turned on, you would get a notification to say I mentioned you, the same as when someone "likes" your post.

I searched the admin side for 'mention' and there's nothing there - does anyone know the official terminology (likes are in 'reputation' settings for instance)

If you can email the admin of a board which uses it, and find out if it's an add-on or a setting called something other than mention, I can see if we got it to turn on

Provided it's just something I can switch on, it's pretty easy, but if it's extra/add-on functionality then it becomes something for Chris to look into

Thanks for the reply Twinset, sounds like people will find it useful, I will try and find out, but I think it was just a case of switching it on.

Edit 2 add, the @mention appears under your avatar and you just click on it when you want to mention that person (or you can type @username) so it might be in member settings somewhere?, I will find out.

I have the ability to turn it off in my settings on that site but not here, I can get a notification when someone quotes my post on here but that makes the threads repetitive and hard to read, this is a bit tidier . Perhaps it is a paid for extra?, Admin is offline just now, will hopefully have an answer by tomorrow.

@twinset, yes it does look like the link you provided,
