I have spotted a couple of cheap shocks on the bay, which would be most suitable to use as a third shock?

The second set look a fair bit longer than just 5mm judging by the centres of the fixing holes, I doubt either are oil filled but I do not think thats really needed for the 3rd shock and these are black so should hide away better than ansmann. My main shocks are yellow cva's so I wanted this to blend away really.

I used a 75mm Ansmann on mine but either will be fine. Some people even use 55mm touring car shocks and just mount it lower down on the bulkhead.

I just used leftover parts from old Grasshopper rear friction dampers. I guess the same parts are also found amongst other old models like the vintage F-150 Blackfoot and the Mud Blaster.

The first shock looks to be friction by the screw at the top ,the 2nd one states 'oil filled' shock . I used and old Brat friction shock - works great .Be careful of the dampers lower mounting on the axle , make sure the damper has enough clearance on the lower eye to swivel on the axle without fouling on it

Cheers guys, I have ordered the friction dampers, seem cheap and cheerful and I have a spare just incase I have to buy a pumpkin ;)

Next question, the bracket people are using as a top mount for the third shock is the same as the ones for the oil filled shock upgrade top mounts looking at photos?

If so do you just have get hold of one off ebay? Looking at the kit I got six included which is just enough to do the oil damper upgrade, I will have a route but I do not think I have got any from other kits. Other than that any suggestions for top mounts?

Same here, GH damper as the 3rd shock.

My top mount is a Yeah Racing ballstud, a nyloc nut helps hold the shock from popping off

I like using the thin 1/18 scale rc shocks this way they don't get in the way and hit the gear box when you push down the rear suspension like the bigger shocks do.
