Hey Guys,

I received this yesterday from Tamiyaclub's generous forum sponsor

StellaModels and thought it might be handy for those of you considering this unit to get a look in and see what you are in for before purchase :)

I will post the contents, description, manual and thoughts about it and hopefully in the next few days or so, I will replace the MFC-01 in my MAN TGX540 with this unit and take it for drive with a video so you can make your own educated decision :)

First impressions for me is this is an evolution of the Multi Function series, rather than just a mere sound card change. While it has some of the basic functions of the previous two units, there is now more special functions to remember in regards to stick and trim patterns, and the setup procedure is far more involved. Long gone is the automatic turn signals which now (depending on stick input) will or will not have a self canceling feature. You can change horn and harzard sounds on the fly, different engine sounds for with/without the trailer being hitched and various other details which I will get into later.

For now I will post up the contents and we will get into the manual etc later.

Thats good they have updated it, guess you would still use MFC-01 for American trucks?

Does it work now better with digital trims or anything I read before it can be tricky if you have them.

Looking to get a truck or tank in the future!

You would have thought they could streamline the size a bit, but at least the extra features are there!

Looking forward to the review, and especially how easy it was to swap out of your existing build!
Cheers,

Yeah absolutely. I will keep the MFC-01 for an American rig, they sound the best in those B) Unfortunately it is the same predicament. You can run a digital trim setup but you wont use the trims, instead you would use your dual rate switch and set one to approx 65% throw and the other 100% and just use the sticks. I will be buying two more of Futaba's new 2.4ghz 4YWD units as Tamiya recommends, (I have one in my Leopard 2a6) I currently have two 4VWD 27AM sets in my trucks.

Great, keep the review coming - I'm planning on purchasing one for a "military truck" build !

Thanks! Military truck sounds good!

The unit is exactly the same size, about the only physical difference is the sticker and that the unit is now in a transparent "smoked" casing. But yes there are some nice new features which I will touch on later. :)

Will be interested to see how much this makes a difference, and if its worth swopping this out

Yeah I agree, just the sound alone is more realistic, I can't wait to get it in there and get more familiar with it.

I've been told there's a mistake in the instructions

This might help ?

Thank you Simon, that certainly helps! B)

Guys, unfortunately I will not be getting back to this for another couple of weeks. I may post some more pics and info but I don't want to elaborate on the functions and what they do until I get it in the truck and test them for myself, and that won't be for sometime. :(

Sorry to keep you all in suspense. I am looking forward to it aswell!
