Hi everyone. I'm new here. Great site. I currently own two Tamiya Frog RC cars. They are both the re-released versions. I had an original Frog back in 1984 when I was a kid. The green Frog was bought new and I assembled it with my son. The silver one was purchased on eBay. It was already assembled but needed lots of work.

Thank you everyone. I'm really enjoying being back in the RC hobby. The green car was really fun to build. The silver car was purchased assembled but had lots of problems. I practically took it all apart and rebuilt it. After lots of tweaking it is good as new.

Welcome to the Nut House :D. I'am working on a Baja Frog at the moment - Heavily modified Kamtec Beetle body on a Frog chassis . I love the Frogs chassis design and hopefully i'll end up with a good looking Beach / Dunes runner .

And here are a few pics of the Silver Frog, #1. I got it for a great price on eBay but I had to do the following repairs:

Replace both rear arms. They were cracked.

Reroute all wiring.

Remove modded steering.

Reinstall servo in proper position.

Install ESC attached to right side of servo.

Reinstall original motor. Black motor that came with car was shot. Original motor was included in the sale.

The modded steering with center mounted servo was geometrically incorrect. The car could not be aligned and the steering was all over the place.

I have it aligned to the point where the trim is dead center and the car runs dead straight now.

Overall I am very happy with it.

Since the eBay seller did not disclose all of the issues in the ad, I was able to get a partial refund. Those funds paid for the parts I needed to put it back the way it should have been.

I also put re-re Frog tires and rims on it. I saved the You Gs that came with it though, as they are very cool. However, they are glued to the rims so they will never come apart. I'm not a fan of that, but I did not build it.

The builder did do a great paint job though.

Here are pics from the sale:

in theory having that centre mounted steering servo should have improved the steering . I think the pervious owner had maybe mounted the link on the servo upside down making the angles of the steering rods too extreme . You may have being able to adjust the links to get it working correctly . those heavy duty links are supposed to be after market hop ups .allowing for adjustable tow in / tow out . Don't chuck em as they are saleable .

Its looks as though this was set up for racing . He more than likely glued the You G tires on because he was running the sport tuned motor . Its extra power would cause the tires to come off under hard cornering at speed . Most people do glue the tires on for this reason .

Last night I purchased two Tamiya Sport Tuned motors from Tower Hobbies. Here in the US, they have been a great company to deal with.

I have both cars geared for speed. 49T spur gear and 19T pinion gear.

I hope the motors increase the speed significantly. Should be fun.

Yes, yes they do :P I slapped one in my Midnight Pumpkin and was wide-eyed when I first hit the throttle. A very sweet little upgrade.

And welcome aboard!

I remember the Midnight Pumpkin. Really cool truck. Do you have any pics on here? I looked at some old posts but the pics are no longer active.
