Tamiya TT Challenge

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am planning an onroad equivalent of the excellent DT02 challenge. This however will be an onroad race event open to TT01 and TT02 chassis cars.
The track will be a permanent indoor carpet track in Blackpool and the event will be bi-annual with the first one arranged for 29th June (Tentative Date).

There will be two main classes

  • Stock - std cars with only oil shocks and prop shaft hop-ups running silvercan, sports tuned or Torque tuned motors.
  • Mod - anything goes but a 13.5t brushless limit.

There will also be a special Wheelie style race for WR02 / CW01 (Lunchbox, wheelies etc) with a prize for winning.

The track is large, there will be a cafe open in the day and some prizes / Trophies.

let me know if you are interested / your thoughts

**** Hold off buying a car until its confirmed ****

Thanks

Now you're talking! Blackpool is only an hour for me so count me in. Drat, that means I'm going to have to buy a TT chassis car now, what a shame

As this is so close to me I am slightly gutted it's not a buggy event. However it seems like a good enough reason to buy an onroad car :D

Oh and the lunchie should be happy ;)

Don't suppose you would let a TB01 in? Haha, if I had a chassis I would defiantly go.

Will, TT-01/2s go dirt cheap even new but on eBay they can be had for circa £50 for a runner. It would be worth you selling something just to afford it. Banzai sell new kits for peanuts too but you do run the risk of customs.

Sounds good. Mentioned it to my wife, who is also keen. Now to see what the final date is, and if we can fit it around work commitments (we both often work weekends).

Also interested to see the rules. I used to race a TT01 in my former club's stock silver can class, but they also allowed a carbon upper deck if you didn't have a TT01E, adjustable steering tie rods and 25/55 gearing, along with the shell and tyres of your choice. It'll be interesting to see how many changes I would need to make to my car to make it race-legal...

My wife and kids would be up for it also. So that would make 4 of us. It would be great if you could get some dates together.

What kind of tyres would we use ? Slicks or anything that comes in a tt01/02 kit

Steve, I strongly do not recommend Banzai. Keeping it very brief and polite, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere (I'd recommend Stella, RCMart or better still, Fusion in the UK).

Still working on this, I need to ensure it will have suitable insurance and also trying to secure some handout transponders.

I'm going to have BRCA membership in time for this one. I'm definitely not a club racer but the more of these excellent events that get organised, the more it makes sense to sort out insurance.
