I have inside knowledge that Tamiya WAS going to do a BigWig Black Special for this year, however, someone on some forum made a"shadow edition", and Tamiya didn't want the embarrassment of being labeled copy cats, so the scrapped that plan. We will now be getting a Striker Black Special.

I call BS! ;-) Maybe I'm wrong... but I think you are pulling our collective chain with both parts of your "inside knowledge". Striker black special? That smells of jest to me...

This means I have to save the world and turn my Striker into a Black Special!

i'd say a black special boomerang is much more likely - as far as black special buggies are concerned. why would they start with a black special as the first run of a re-released chassis? particularly if it involves making a hard plastic chassis in a non-box-art color. they already have everything ready for a special edition boomerang, they just need new decals... and they don't even need to design them b/c they already have a black special mini 4WD boomerang to copy the style from.

like so:

I would like to see them re-release The Falcon! lololol

I second that my friend. Would be able to get some parts that are needed to restore mine at a reasonable price then lol.

You almost wonder what didn't make it to the shelfs or production line , back in the day

& wonder if they will look at getting that out ? ...

But i bet it won't be anything special , Like using some thing in the hotshot , boomerang , bigwig , super sabre

parts & make some thing out of that , With new bits to finish it & put a NEW body on it . Now that would be great & be some thing special .

WHO Know's , What they will do , just hope they do them self justice & bring the TAMIYA spirit back ..

Nice idea this, I was thinking a metallic black winger shell on a boomer chassis, with Egress black wheels and hybrid spike tires. Would effectively be a new car, but with vintage inspiration.

Bear in mind though, that for the 500th car we got the DT-02 sand rover.

Analogue to the 30th anniversary model, I'd love to see a 1/10 Porsche 935 as the 40th anniversary model, even though we're talking about the 40th anniversary for the RC tanks, not the RC cars.

The car I received for Christmas from my wife has given me cause to resurrect this thread. I draw your attention to the bottom right of the below picture:

Is this something they are putting on all of the cars released this year, or does this mean that we have the long-awaited answer to the question of "What will be the 40th Anniversary commemorative car?"

FWIW, both my TB04 PRO II box and my TB EVO 6 box have 40th anniversary designations on them. Both of these kits are 84xxx series. That said, my TA06R box does not seem to have a 40th anniversary marking on it, and it's 84xxx as well. Is that pink Neo Scorcher a 84xxx kit?
