And once again, I don't see why a Vanquish can't be built by a beginner. It's entry level, not poor mans'. And it may be cheaper to buy, but it is not poor mans'. And so what if the materials are different? So it's plastic. It's may look the same as an Egress or an Avante, but the modelling skill for the Vanquish, and it's target audience are probably no different to those of the Terra Scorcher. That is an entry level buggy, not a rich mans' Thunder Shot. If you were to have a double deck carbon chassis on a Thundershot, do you think it'd really be more difficult to bulid? Not really, no. It'd take more time, but no more skill.

The Vanquish IS a cheaper, plastic version of a higher end range of cars but it calling it poor mans' is wrong and insulting to those who may have owned one because funds have not allowed a more expensive purchase at the time. To say poor mans' is to be a snob!

Don't be hard on Max. His point is absolutely valid. It's a budget model. Don't forget that English is not his first language. This very hobby we are in is a luxury hobby. Rc has never been cheap. Finally, don't forget we are all talking about toys here.

ETA: Many of the fine folks are here now later in life because they couldn't afford these toys when they were young.

I am fully aware of Max's nationality and first language. And I acknowledge the fact that the Vanquish is entry level. at least that's how I would class it. Yes, even a beginners' version of the Avante, and no more fiddly than a Terra Scorcher or Boomerang with it's numerous parts for everything it does.

I just don't think that anything should be labelled poor mans' It's a label that's very outdated and I'd rather like to think that we are all on a fairly level playing field despite the expense our hobby often incurs. Yes, some are richer than others, but we don't need to know that - it's private and personal. We are Tamiya lovers, and hopefully all friends.

Max, I do not mean you any offence, and I apologize if I've come off a bit bullish or misunderstanding. I can be, and often am. Where as you know what you want to say, I can misunderstand quite easily.

I'm sorry if my English is so bad.

I try to explain better my thinking.

1) Vanquish needs the same modelling skill to build it. Only the materials are different, not the structure of the model. So who is able to built a Vanquish is at the same way able to built an Egress.

2) Anyone who knows me here, on the club and the forum, perfectly knows that actually I'm unemployed and in great economical difficulties. This is never been a mistery. Anyway my father was a simple and honest Fiat Avio worker and my mother a simple and honest employee in an office. So we never had many money in our family and I never had been a rich man.

3) In fact, as I said in my previous post, I'm one of those poor men that bought the entry level Vanquish because the Avante and the Egress were not affordable. Ah, I forgot to say that I bought a used battered Vanquish because a NIB one was yet too expensive for me.

This demonstrates (I hope) that I'm not doing classism but telling the simple truth. At the end I could never been snob against myself, I would be stupid.

Sorry again if my English is so bad.

I never said the car was beginner friendly, but it was certainly aimed at the beginner level of the market when compared to it's FRP/Carbon fibre counterparts, and I'm sure plenty of first timers built these things. I really don't see why a beginner couldn't build one. I'm a seasoned builder and to me the Boomerang is plenty fiddly for a 4WD. It has way too many parts for what it does. The vanquish may have more parts, but I would imagine it's no more fiddly or difficult to assemble than a Boomer.

And to call the Vanquish a poor mans' Avante just smacks of snobbery.

I find that hard to believe - it would seem that 'poor man's Avante' is actually a more accurate description, given how expensive the Avante really was. In a way, it was also a solution to the Avante since the more advanced buggy had numerous flaws.

I can agree with you.

The grotesque thing is that the Vanquish is far away a lighter and better performer than the more expensive big sister Avante.

With some (relatively-speaking) pocket change I could see myself driving the Aero Avante!

By that, I mostly mean: "I am saving up for more expensive projects, but may just end up buying an Aero Avante and drive it until every single component needs replacing!"

I think, given the iterations of the Avante, it would look interesting next to the one I own, especially in a similar colour scheme...

Lol, already got my email that mine has shipped from Stella. I'll post pics when it's done as this is going to be a fun runner for me. They did tell me it'll come with a tble02 esc and a torque tuned motor.

ETA: Lol, you can see both in the pic.

Instead of this Easter-egg-paper looking cars I would prefer a Striker (not my fovourite car) re-re :-)

You and I both, or as some people suggested, a Neo Striker on a DT-03... *drool*

I am happy to see the wheels are actually plated instead of some sort of dull yellow plastic. But is the finish actually gold? I guess until we see one in person, it will be like wondering what colour the Hotshot Metallic Special was...

Funny how the Avante on the box is blue

:/

Almost all the alt color cars have the original release arty work with a "special color" sticker. The Avante BS being one of the few standouts.
