I really really want one!!

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ftx-sidewinder-1-8th-brushed-rtr/rc-car-products/383078

I have a couple of FTX (Himoto) cars are they really are excellent value for money. My Carnage and Edge has never let me down and for pure value for money they are amazing. The amount of hop ups you can get is crazy once you know the OEM details.

If Tamiya made an 8th scale 2wd buggy I'd be on that like a Jawa on a lost droid...

That does look rather good . Great value too . I have a FTX Carnage that started off as a brushed RTR for my step son to bash about with . Soon got up graded to a brushless set up with 9t 4370kv running on 2s lipo . Very reliable and so far unbreakable . .

This appears to be just as well engineered and its quite stylish too . Think I'd do my own paint job on one to make it a bit more scale looking but that's just IMO

Never heard of this make before, but their limited products look good and value for money. Which leads me to think that it seems Tamiya RC models are not showing up as much in hobby shops and are other rc brand making their way to Japan hobby shop? if yes, one can draw one's own thoughts on Tamiya's RC line.

Tamiya 1/10 . the FTX brand has being about for a few years now . The Vantage / Carnage share the same chassis . The Vantage is a traditional 4x4 shaft drive buggy whereas the Carnage is more of a short course Truggy .

both are well made with loads of option parts available - carbon ect . and a good spec for the money . Great for general bashing about .

this new 1/8 TH looks to be just as good value .

Sayer you could well be correct . Looking at my Carnage it does look very HPI like it terms of the chassis design / layout

THE HPI is 1:5th .. almost 1m long, as a rule 30cc petrol unless you get the flux and costs £900.00 ... the FTX is 1:8th electric and costs £200 :) ... sure the design is similar but you can say that about the Ansmann DNA, The Kyosho Scorpion, The Arrma Raider... and many many more but I'd not personally call them clones unless they were 1:5th .. I'd called them Inspired.

Nothing wrong with a little inspiration when style is involved, the reason I like the FTX is because it looks like the Baja :)

Oh I'm not complaining. I'm sort of an intermittent HPI fan (when they nail a design, they really get it right) the WR8 for instance, is everything I've ever wanted in a car, and if you're copying buggies, the Baja is a darned good place to start.

In terms of Kyoshos though I'd say the Ultima is closer to the Baja than the Scorpion. (I read somewhere that HPI now employs a lot of the original Kyosho designers too)
