I was always curious about the paint application on the Mk1 Golf...not being the greatest painter, and being easily frustrated by paint bleeding through my tape/masking, I'd also go with a solid color.

What about green with a gold mesh BBS style wheel?

More or less what I was thinking. I found a photo online of a rally-ized Golf in green with gold wheels. Looked pretty sharp. I don't want to buy more wheels, but I have a set of gold minilite-style M wheels that I could use.

Green and gold always go well together. Especially the deeper greens, like British racing green.
