Hi All

I've just searched forums with no joy, I'm sure I recall reading about 'SPECIAL' red shock absorbers for the Hilux, Theo (sorry) Robie mentions them in his review of the hilux.

Quoteid="red"> real working set of oil dampers (not the SS ones) unquoteid="red">

Whats cooking my noodle is, whats the difference between them and normal SRB shocks, and exactly how rare are they (I've never seen ANY! on the bay) and were they made by Tamiya?

O.K. I've just crawled through every Hilux/Blazer on the site [B)] and found one pair on manuspain's jeep. at least I think this is them[?]

These look like SS shocks but with dupro ball ends. The suspension on this truck is the standard ford coil spring with radius arms and trackbar.

AFAIK there never existed hop up dampers for Hilux from any company, but you are free to use anything that fits [:D]

Yes, the red ones look like old Kyoshos.

I think you mean 'except Tamiya', as I think you know this. The front SRB (Rough Rider etc.) dampers can be fitted to the rear and the rears to the front. [:D]

Of course, as the SRB shocks were mentioned above and according to some sources, in some countries the Hilux was sold together with them... [;)]

Here is also the proof that I must know and didnt make this up after your post as I have added them to both of my first generation 3 speeds [;)] [:P] http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp...002182753_3.jpg

I have only one 1st gen. 3 speed (only one 'as if it isn't enough' [;)] ). Mine had those dampers fitted as I got it though. [:D]

Oh how I just can't wait to run it this holiday when it's finished (it nearly is)! [8D]

Hi.

Those shocks didn t come with my blazer when i bought it NIB.

I don t remember exactly where they come from as i mounted them some years ago.

Can they be a set of optional ones for tamiya trucks?

I don t think they are from Kyosho, but they look similar to the ones mounted on my scorpion nº3. Don t look the ball end, they can have been changed.

I ll try to remember what brand they are when i ll open again all the boxes with my cars inside. Part of the collection is moving because of changing house. As soon as i ll take of the car from the box i ll make closer pics, if this can help.

Bye

Just got an email from Manuspain saying that the car came with shocks but they needed adapting to fit.

So we can assume theyre not Tamiya.

At this point I'm giving up hope, It may be the case that the shocks I was reading about were not tamiya and just happened to be red. But the person also mentioned their rarity [?].

I think I have seen a set of those red dampers in my local hobby shop. From memory they certainly look exactly the same. I don't remember the make but I am certain it was'nt Tamiya. Maybe they are made by Graupner?

I have a set of those shocks, don't know were i got them but i have them. The look like a perfect fit for the hilux/blazer, I might put them on my blazer.

UREKA!

Thanks to Prof Slot I recently aquired a Kyoso optima (many thanks!) a car I've had an eye on for a while, which I ironically bought because I thought though the Hilux would never fulfill my 4wd desires [}:)], and then I took the spring off a coil over I discovered the elusive 'RED SHOCKS!' just as he said in this thread [8].

The fronts fitted like a glove[:D] but as mentioned rears need work.

So my optima project is currently without front shocks but new rears on the way!! see botom pic
