Hi,

new member here - a friend of mine has 5 1980's cars - all in good condition - and he was going to throw them out!

I told him that people would be interested in getting a hold of some or all of these and ditching would be madness

He has a Wild Willy, Frog and Hotshot in used condition plus a Hilux and Bruiser that were never used (built though)

condition is I would say "above average" that is, all complete and nothing broken to our knowledge, but hey, they are 25 yrs old.

though i'd try here as an EOI before Ebay.

if anyone is keen for more information and pictures, i'll get it arranged.

i'm expecting yes!

Everything is in Adelaide, South Australia.

Don't have prices in mind yet, trying to work that out via research including asking here!

Need to also scour old gumtree, ebay etc ads as well at a I guess.

Wow, what a fantastic collection!

About prices, even though the real price of something is whatever the buyer is willing to pay, I'd say the Toyota trucks built but including their boxes would go for about $750 the Bruiser and $1000 the red Toyota 4x4. The Wild Willy $400 and Hot Shot $300. These things sold to the right person would fetch some pretty serious money. If I was you I would not fear the eBay possibility, for as much as they rip you off with percentages, these cars have a rather strong following. As a matter of fact, I wish I was able to have one or two of those! Haha. :)

If anyone is seriously interested in these make sure you buy them through ebay. No disrespect Clive but you being a new member with 6 posts and with a new profile I hope that all interested parties would protect themselves from possible scams. We have seen this before here.

Take care fellas

Yep - that's a fair point actually. I would be weary too. We are unlikely to be talking $50 here either :D

Funny how when you're not the type to rip people off, the last thing you think about is just that. But anyway.

Dispite TC shows over 42k members, but less non-active members, have your models already members, can't affort it members, you would left with 1 that maybe willing pay your price. Bottom line...ebay...unless you are asking $50.00 for the lot. I will give you $100.00 fir the lot.;-)

if you need the space I can take them off your hands, I would even pay the postage.

no seriously, the bruiser, hilux and wild willy should make good money even if they were rough around the edges.

I have seen a hilux box go for silly money on ebay UK it would be criminal to throw them out. the two trucks are in my Tamiya top 10, one day I will get one.

Market has softened a lot since the Bruiser re-re matey.

In recent mths I'm seeing solid clean Original Bruisers fetch only around A$450-600 on fleaBay;

old Hilux could be worth more but the last one seen recently got barely $600 either.

3-5yrs ago or even 10y even tired Bruisers could top $1k (when the AUD was like 55-60 USc mind).

Used Frogs & Hotshots aren't worth much now that reres are easy to buy, $50-100ish on a good day.

Used M38 Willy can fetch anywhere $80-150, possibly more if you're lucky to have all bits complete & unbroken.

Good tyres, unbroken genuine proper front grille & windscreen is a start. Willy's visor is the cherry on the icing! ;)

Kitbox in good condition might add a few bux but only to a few certain collectors.

Trying to ship thru ozpost/couriers without damage will be your challenge.

FeeBay will tax you 15-25% off those #s.

Brutally honest, if some T-clubber local come knocking on your door offering $1000 for the lot,

I'd take his offer & run before he thought twice... crating 3spds for shipping is not easy!

Grabbed out of storage today.

I'll be taking some decent photos to prepare the sale this week.

Suffice to say, yes, the two 4x4's are MINT.

Re-Re's may have dropped the value slightly today, but they will never be originals and I know which one will be worth significantly more in the future!!

Hi, check if the bruiser still has its mirror, highly looked after item. And for the willy jeep does it have a hole or a slot in the metalhinge on the side? Just some things that make them more $$ ;-)

Posted

Yes their values have dropped since the re re's . I remember I tried trading a mounty or bruiser several years back for my nib king tiger with the rotating turrer, a nib full option tiger and nib WWII VW that comes with a radio kit...the guy wouldn't do the deal...he was not into Tamiya 1/16 military stuff...now i think he will. I think the lot is worth more than $1k. How much more? I put it at around 2k.

I spent a couple of hours going through and taking photos of all 5 today. I'll sort them out and post in the morning.

There were quite a few surprises (good ones) I think some of you will really like (even if not keen to buy)

The Hilux and Bruiser are both in BRILLIANT condition, hopefully the photos can convey this.

Yep - certainly is.

I nearly fell over when I saw the batteries in their original boxes with manuals.

Almost felt bad letting the old air escape!! :)

Little conversation of;

"Oh **** the bruiser mirror is missing" I said to my mate.....

"No, no wait I've got it here. Never fitted cause I was too scared of it breaking"

If you are willing to take offers from this site's members which I believe was your intention for joining the site what assurances will you give potential buyers that are willing to send you their hard earned cash?

Just go over all the models with a quality soft brush and their values will go up another few hundred bucks. Dirty and dusty RC is a real turn off for buyers as it could mean lack of care or is trying to hide some imperfections..
