Hmmmmm... I wonder what you have in mind ;o)

ps. as a thought, while it looks like you couldn't shave that much of the outside of the wheels after all (and the axle stubs would still ultimately dictate the width), depending on the look you are going for, you could always fit a set of kick-rs wheel arch spats to it?

That might actually look pretty cool?!

Not that I have any idea what you're planning at all... ;o)

These are not the chassis you are looking for...

I was looking at the Nailer this evening, and it hit me... Rather than try to shrink a 1/10th chassis to fit the body, why not use a smaller scale chassis that fits the body (like I did with the 1/18th Mini Recon under the Wild Willy shell).

A quick search on Radshape, and bingo - this is just the ticket - and at a great price too!

1/14th scale - with a wheelbase of 169-175mm (you need 172) and a width of 124-136mm, giving you plenty of scope to fit whatever dished wheels you like - although looking at the width of the ones on it, they would be just about perfect as they are for the ahem shell.

I thank you, and expect your call ;o)

ps. Yes, I know they are currently out of stock, but I'm sure they'll get some more in soon - he ll at that price, maybe we should all do a group buy?!

£40 ain't bad and that is spot on wheel base for a WW2 (and the Mardave mini stock if you're interested). Does anyone know if they use 12mm hex hubs or is that too much to ask? :)

I think if you want to build a scale WW2, you'd be better off with the 1/18th scale Mini Recon chassis (like I used) or a similar Maverick Ion, as they both have the track width required for those shells...

I know the Recon doesn't use hexes (and the axles are only 4mm stepping down to 3mm), but it's possible to adapt either some Tamiya hexes with a piece of C&S tube, or even fit Scorcher wheels like I did...

I'd be interested to know if the 1/14th Carisma does use regular size axles/hexes too though!

edit. According to the photos here (of the Touring Car version), it doesn't look like they use regular hexes - I imagine the wheels have some kind of moulded in slot for a drive pin or something similar?

Its bad enough buying the shell, now you've got me looking at another chassis too - evil, evil i say !!

Not only that bit you'd also have a 1/14 Mini body to do something with too!

If only you could get a mini recon for that money Jenny :) I was just pointing out something else I've worked on with the same wheelbase, it's good to know what options are out there. Found some replacement wheels for the GT14 and they seem to have a triangular hub arrangement and no mention as to what diameter the axle thread is either.
