I was driving home from work today and I was following a VW Lupo GTI that seemed to be in mint condition and it got me thinking about what people's most wished for body sets would be if Tamiya had license to produce them.

So I'm putting this question out there; perhaps we could apply some pressure on Tamiya too!

The 3 I thought of were as follows;

  1. VW Lupo GTI to fit an M chassis
  2. Landrover Defender (SWB/LWB) to fit a scale chassis as opposed to something like a Lunch Box chassis.
  3. Ford Escort Mk1

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Cheers

Mark

I'm sure there has been a thread like this before, but...

M-chassis: Lancia Beta, Lancia Fulvia, VW Scirocco mk1, Mazda 323GTX

Touring car: BMW E12 5-series, Mercedes-Benz W123 (why not?)

Rally car: every Group B car they can get the rights to

Truck: I'd love to see a '70s Dodge Power Wagon on the hi-lift chassis

Classic series

Movie series, starsky and hutch, dukes of hazard, herbie, A-team, etc

Police car series

Could do themed releases on existing chassis instead of just lining all the cars up on the factory floor and blindly throwing bodies at them like they have done on the DT-02 chassis.

seems like they played "pin the tail on the donkey" only it was pin the body on the ill fitting chassis.

E type would be nice but my favourites would be

Bentley 4.5ltr supercharged

77 Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit

But if I could only have one, I'd choose the Shelby Cobra

They'd all need decent driver figures though :)

I keep meaning to pick up one of those HPI shells, except I'm going to paint it gold, with no spoiler, Jim Rockford style...

My favorite TV series! (and one of the greatest TV series car EVER). ;)

For me it is the 1999 BTCC Nescafe Blend 37 Williams Renault Laguna . I know Parma did one based on the 1998 car but it looked terrible. Kyosho did a 1997 version that looked very good though, but the 1999 Super Touring with the new regulation changes would have been awesome.

I would like the following:

Isuzu 117 (M-06):

Ferrari 312B (F104 derivative):

Tamiya Wild Saurus (GF-01):

Triumph GT6 (M-06):

... and that is about it, for now. Kyosho does a Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, but I would love to see Tamiya tackle that and the GT-40!

Actually, I had been thinking about converting one of those old 1:12 F1 kits into a radio-controlled model...

That is going be tough for Tamiya as European customers have their favorite; North America has their favorite and Asia has their favorite, and paying a licencing fees seem not to sit too well with Tamiya as thier new model shells are of old models.

To me Tamiya should put out some convertible as Kyosho has done in the past like the MG and Cobra, and give us 3D wiper blades, tail pipes, grills; and light buckets to fit lights not decals for everything. Models like the Nissan R31CP and, Fiat Strata (with the engine at rear) are 2models by Tamiya that have good detailings. Tamiya is a static model company first so I don't understand why the two should not mix, especially most of their RC lines are not designed for real competition.

Maybe Tamiya is keeping its principle in keeping their RC.. cheap, simple and easy and quick put together.

Big Foot from the late 70's to mid 80's. I have been hoping for an official release since the blackfoot/clod release in the 1980's. I have been waiting a while.
