An RC10, either vintage or re-release, will wipe the floor with the Scorpion. It will also do the same to the Scorpion's successor, the Ultima, albeit in a less savage manner. :P

I value you opinion Wandy, just curious though, is it handling where the RC10 shines or is it just an all around superior buggy?

The reason I ask is that I am going to get both my kids new 2wd buggys to race, I was set on a pair of RC10 WE's, but then saw the scorpion and loved the retro look, but no point in buying if the buggy will never be truly competitive...

In saying this I pre ordered a scorpion today lol, this place really affects you doesn't it

It's the suspension geometry and adjustability that makes it superior. The RC10's design is still being used today by every buggy. It created a new standard. It also started the trend of buggies going away from a 1:1 scale look. You'll notice that the WE doesn't have spot lights, driver figure and has dish rims.

Raman36 has beaten me to it. Basically the RC10's original chassis design from 1983 was the standard bearer for a decade. It handles like it is on rails and is exceptionally tough & wear resistant. By the time it became a common sight on tracks around the world the Scorpion had already been superseded by the Ultima, so it goes without saying that the RC10 beats the Scorpion hands down.

Having said that, in a vintage race the Scorpion would still trounce Tamiya's equivalent buggies from the same time period. However if you are looking for a vintage/nostalgia buggy that can give a good account of itself against modern stuff then the RC10 Worlds is your only option. That might change if Kyosho decide to re-release the Optima & Mid though. :)

Keep also in mind that the scorpion-chassis is based on two buttersoft aluminum-rails. You once hit the wall with it your chassis is banana! Not to compare with the rigidity of a RC10...

Therefore the Scorpion's quality is more in its gorgeous appearance. Just got to love this old school baja's

So of you'll notice, some of the Turbo Scorpion cosmetics are an option, such as front bumper, roll cage with mounts for spot lights, rear wing mount. However no Turbo Scorpion body or roof with cut outs which kind of sucks since that roof is really cool looking.

There's also an option listed for HG dampers but no picture.

The option for black tub is cool, but I wonder why the went with red and omitted the white?

Like the ball diff, I'd be surprised if the shocks are custom made for the Scorpion. Better to use already-designed and manufactured shocks. But a search on kyoshoamerica doesn't seem to show anything, so maybe they are actually custom.

So many cool parts in that list.

Definitely want to buy a couple of black tubs (to use for vintage chassis if they are in fact compatible with them).

Definitely want the universals.

Definitely some wheels and tires.

Most likely a CNC motor plate.

Probably one rear gearbox for the original just to see how it works.

Probably the Le Mans 490 motor. Love to see a color photo.

Maybe a light set and cage to go with it.

As for the carbon parts, I've already bought some from RC Carbon Works (rccarbonworks.com) so I probably won't be buying any more of those.

The fact that they're using 7075 aluminium and some of the parts are CNC and even forged is already a big improvement. In my opinion, the Carbon parts look cool but they don't fit the period of the car.

Dampers, if we are lucky the will make high cap version of the original in anodised red. Otherwise they will be from the RB6

Are you guys ready to drool? Here are the Options! Man are they sexy!

At last, the mystery is solved, lol. Where did you find this sheet?

I thought the same thing, and being the eternal optimist, it makes me think they are deliberately holding back on it so that they can do a full re-release of the Turbo.

I have to say I am hugely impressed with the attention to detail for this re-release. They have done it in a manner that pretty much every fan could have wished for. I just hope that they are not putting this much energy into it because it is the only kit that they plan to re-release.

Please, Mr Kyosho. Do exactly the same for the Optima, Mid, Ultima etc. You know it makes sense. :)

Kyosho Japan has the a manual up on their site. Here is the link to the whole thing

IMHO, Kyosho is taking some of the sting and bitterness out of doing the rere by releasing hop ups right from the start.

I can't wait for my Scorp and to start buying hop ups, have a kit on preoder, will have to build another with hop ups.

I'm a bit slower this time on a non-Tamiya thread (as opposed to the RC10 one) but when is the expected release date of this?

Hopefully very soon! Surely the Japanese will get their kits before Europe & the USA?
