Me think if one buys all 16 hop ups the total would be another scopion.

if i was a big fan with deep pickets, i would likely own the original, but i would buy one and keep it stock and buy another with every hop ups available and the replaced parts would be spares. But i don't have deep pockets and not crazy about any model thst i would do what i just wrote. One is enough and get only the hop ups i like, but the stock scopion is good enough for me.

Agree. However if they do an all new Turbo kit with all of the hop-ups as standard I expect it would be good value...probably something around the $300 mark.

I don't know what to do.. i have a nib scorpion, was going to buy most hopups for it which as mentioned would probly cost the same as a scorpion, maybe kyosho will release a full hopup scorpion kit, like tamiya did with the avante black special.. is that picture the coming re-release or just an example of kyosho's hopups?

Than what do you do? Do you sell the re re at a lost and buy the hop up version, when the hit from the 1st sell and the $100 or $120.0pcould put you back to square 1 of getting all the hop ups. Caught between a rock and a hard place.

See above. I would do the math 1st to see how much it will cost if buy hop ups now, and wait a while to see if Kyosho will follow Tamiya route. The kit is already $20.00 cheaper, so time is on your side. But don't wait too long just incase no hopup version release and the hop ups you wanted are sold out.. :(

Nope. You keep the current standard Scorpion and then also buy the Turbo. :)

If the Turbo does get released it will undoubtedly have all of the cosmetic features of the original Turbo, ie white chassis tub, different upper body, roof, wheels and decals. It will then be fitted with the all new hop-ups. So they would be clearly two seperate models in their own right.

If you have already bought the hop-ups then you could sell them to pay for the Turbo kit you just bought.

It's just a standard Scorpion loaded with all of the hop-ups by Kyosho themselves. There is currently no official Turbo re-release.

lesson learned, those that want to be the first, like having the i phone 6, pays along with all the bugs that goes with it. Those that can wait gets it ,may get it, cheaper without the buggs.

Here's she is, almost done. I'm shooting for the general look of my favorite Kyosho, the Chevy 4x4, with the tall narrow tires and decal pattern. Not sure yet how to mount the body.

Did anyone else find that that it was difficult to get any decent kind of damping action from the front shocks? Mine either had hydrolock or weren't much better than with no oil in at all. The rears seem to work well though.

Those thin plastic rings were a pain to fit on the damper threads too.

I've also got the binding problem with the rear drive shafts, and moving the rear arms out as far as possible has made no difference. Did anyone find a definitive solution to this?

I'm thinking of drilling and tapping a 2 mm hole in the dampers so that you can bleed them from the top, much like current style dampers. I think that will solve the problem

Dampers were a pain. The plastic gasket was difficult to get on, to start with, and bleeding was difficult too.

I always use Team Associated Green Slime on damper o-rings for smooth action and a good seal. And bleeding dampers without the silicone bubble cap thingy in the lid always provides a poor performing damper.

Best I came up with was to fill with fluid, and compress the damper, while simultaneously threading it together. There are huge bubbles in them, but that's the best Ol' Sup can do with the factory parts. It is, after all, early 80's technology.

The Pargustore 10mm aluminum spring clamps are a fantastic upgrade to the slippery plastic stock clamps.

As for the rear shafts, loosen the training arm mounts, pull gently outward, then re-tighten. I saw that posted on another forum, and it worked.

Just about to paint the lexan body on mine but was just wondering....have people painted the driver's body from the inside or on the outside?

Posted

I have found it always best to paint the driver from the outside if you want it to look realistic. It gives it a Matt finish. If you paint from the inside it will also ways look shiny.

The paint won't chip off so long as you use polycarbonate paints and its out of harms way from getting scuffed in normal use.

I hope that helps?
