Hi all,

I have been using a 2.4GHz Spektrum DX3E system, but am now looking to replace it.

I am after 2.4 GHz 3 channel steer wheel type which has a multi model memory and affordable receivers (Spektrum ones are £30+).

I have been looking at the FLYSKY fs gt 3c combo, Absima CR3P combo and Carson Reflex Pro 2 LCD combo.

All my cars run a TEU 105BK esc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I apologise if I am living up to my name!:rolleyes:

Nump.

Or stick with Spektrum. if you're not bothered by clone/copy goods, you can find compatible RXs.

HobbyKing has them under "Orange" brand name.

Trouble with all the Flysky etc is their TXes feel real cheap :(

Even the cheapest Spektrum DX3C or DX3E feel better in hand.

I'm using the Carson Reflex Wheel Pro LCD 2 (2012 model).

I've got also the 2011 model Carson Reflex Wheel Pro LCD and the Kyosho Synchro KT-200 (same compatible system, rebranded, different appearance, without LCD/memory). All these are compatible receiver-wise.

The Reflex Wheel Pro 2 receivers from Carson are affordable and come with BEC included, which is handy for both TEU-105BK (w/ BEC) and the older TEU-101/104BK (w/o BEC). I use them in my whole R/C car fleet apart from one car which is still controlled by an Acoms GR-24.

Some early production runs of the 2012 model Reflex Wheel Pro 2 BEC-receivers are known to be plagued with defects, manifesting in frequent signal loss even within close range. So you've got to pay attention and test them immediately when buying more receivers, so they will still be covered of the product warranty.

The Carson transmitter feels nicer than the cheap FlySky ones, but is not really on par with Spektrum, Acoms and Futaba. Kind of somwhere in the middle between them. The wheel has that nice soft foam grip, but could use a more convincing attachment to the transmitter's main body. The throttle lever has side-to-side play, but not too bad.

The printed manual is not very helpful for a beginner, and the LCD menu system can be a bit trial and error. Once you've set up everything, all you need is just switching through the memory banks.

The range is great and goes up to where you can still barely make out the car with your eyes. The transmitter just needs 4 AA-batteries and is rather economically in power consumption.

Got another vote for the Carson Reflex Pro TX's here too. I have both the LCD and standard type and found them good value for money. Something else to concider is they only take 4 AA batteries.

Most new TXes take 4 AAs these days fellas, if not a lipo pack.

I'd rather the AAs though, as they're easier to swap in Alkalines if I've forgotten to charge the Enerloop.

Whereas lipos will take at least an hr, plus I'm not confident of their long term lifespan either.
