Blast. I just bought one!

I was thinking about buying a new Hornet as parts for my old one (still a re-release) as its tyres are worn smooth, the battery hatch keeps falling off despite the customary screw, the body is trashed, the gearbox is almost perforated from being grounded and there's so much slop in the steering that I don't really need a servo saver. So I bought a set of new wheels to keep it going and -oops- put a black chrome Hornet in the virtual basket too and the body will go on when it's on the shelf. It was discounted, I guess they're not too popular in today's world of ready-to-run trucks that handle, go in a straight line and all that ;).

Yup, sounds like a typical well used Hornet thats provided hours of fun!! I think I'll end up with another in the future to run as a basher, monsterised of course with brushless and wheelie bar!! might need to upgrade the steering links for that. Shouldn't have to worry about grounding out the gearbox in momster spec though!!

Enjoy...

Thanks TOWER and PHIL'S and ANYONE else in the North American continent for shoving the highest price of Tamiya kits down our throats. We could rarely see a price like Tamico ever pop up for real sale. Right now Tower has them in stock, for a paultry $145USD, THANKS FOR NOTHING, WOW, you guys on the other side of the planet get some great deals, I must say.

It is annoying when you see these deals that other places get. Believe me when I say that it's one of the very few 'good' deals we have access to in the UK. So don't feel too bad. They used to have a nickname for the UK which was treasure island because they could bump up the price of anything they sell here.

Tamico is German so we have to order from another country to get this one good deal. Sometimes I see items in fhe states for $50 and in the UK it's £50! I often think what exchange rate are they looking at!

Couldn't resist this weeks Tamico special offer, so now it is on its way. My first ever Hornet after 25 years in RC

I couldn't resist either, so ordered and delivered in record time. Paint and Micron-lines are for other projects

I picked up a Hornet a few months ago and have been posting my thoughts about it on my blog.  Here's a review of the 30th anniversary edition:

Also been doing some mods to try to get it to handle better, here's a link to my blog.

Nice little buggy, fairly primitive, and the design is totally out of whack, but I'm having fun with it!

As this is one of my favorite cars in history, I too do lots to try and improve handling. That's how this happened.

Sweet truck!  Random coincidence, I've been subscribing to your YouTube videos, (AMPRO engineering) and watching your stuff, didn't realize you were local!  I'm in Sunnyvale, I'd love to check out your Tamiyas sometime.

Is anyone using a thicker grease in the diff to get more of a limited slip effect?  The open diff spins way too easily.  It's not bad on asphalt, but in loose dirt...

Hi I degreased mine all the pins and bevel and side axle gears that ride on them and I coated all those parts with tamiyas anti wear grease and it works much better than when coated with the normal grease...only put it on the diff not on the other gears or it will slow down your buggy and make the motor run hot also.
