This TC forum's IP.Board software, Mozilla Firefox and Photobucket.com are struggling at the moment to work together.

Often when I try to embed photobucket images (using the "IMG" or "IMG thumb" codes from Photobucket designed for forums), pictures won't show up properly. When editing, "[" and "]" brackets are often substituted with garbage characters.

Sometimes even the complete text of my post gets lost when I try to save the corrected post. I had to revive this post from Google's cache when I just wanted to edit in the first picture. The rest of the thumbnail pictures are now reduced to simple links, since I can't get them to work right otherwise. Neither in the simple post editor nor in the full editor, regardless on what the editor toggle/switch is set too.

These are examples of Photobucket's forum codes:

(EDIT: Please see EDIT further below!)

EDIT: As you can see, even when just trying to post the codes inside of a CODE tag, IP.Board creates random garbage characters around the IMG tags where there should be brackets. :( Once you save the post, they suddenly appear.

This drives me nuts. :(

The problem must be something else mate, because just a couple of hours ago I posted pictures here using both, Firefox & photobucket without any hassle.

In the past (read: since the forum was updated from the old to the recent software a few years ago), this happened also with the Opera browser and on different computers.

I guess there could be some weird margin of character misinterpretation for characters in the forum's editor, which only happens under some circumstances.

Using Photobucket's IMG link and Firefox 29.0.1

Using Photobucket's 'Direct' link and TC's image tagging;

Thank you Twinset.

Well, in the first CODE tag I still see the

%5BIMG%5D

instead of

[img]

I also found out there are differences in how the forum handles pictures presented in

[img=image.jpg]

Versus

[img=image.jpg]

Have you tried embedding a thumbnail?

EDIT: A thousand edits later....

(Didn't wanted to edit my post another time at the risk of auto-formatting and getting everything lost again.)

It seems the plain text editor (where I should have total control over all tags) messes around a lot and interprets many tags and image in the wrong way. The full graphic WYSIWYG editor works suprisingly better, but isn't perfect either.

Still a PITA. :(

When I switched HTML off composing that first post, the address went so screwy the picture wouldn't show, but I use a combination of PB and pics hosted elsewhere and that's the first time one's not shown up.

Both pics here are PB

I've edited/HTML on/off that post a couple of times typing this and can't corrupt the code, so not sure when/why those extra characters get introduced.

It seems my problem is related to known issues of the IP-Board text editor parser, which is set up to convert on-the-fly between different formats of using IMG-tags in BB-code:

Thanks, I had something like that going in my mind, but wasn't 100% sure about it. This might be another indication of a parser that's misinterpreting or misprinting characters.

Twinset, for now I'll try the WYSIWYG editor as a workaround for the broken plain text editor. If anything fails, I'll let you know. :) Thanks for your kind assistance.

I usually type my own code (web development predisposition), that circumvents it all.

One extra cool thing is an image that is a link itself :

[url=link-url][img=image-url][/url]

C11Avatar.jpg

The basics for a link or image :

[url]some-direct-path[/url] and [img=some-direct-path]

Link with a certain text showing :

[url=the-path-itself]Text to be shown[/url]

:)

Edit - lol, when I try to edit this post it takes out all the spacing (empty lines).
