Saving Decals

I am in the process of restoring a SS body shell. Some of the decals on this shell are in good/decent condition. Decent enough to where I would like to save them and reapply them. don't think there is an ideal method to saving decals but i've tried with an ammount of success by warming the decal with a hair dryer and carefully peeling away the decal and placing it on a piece of glass for safe keeping.

when you come to re-apply, warm the decal up again and transfer back to your body, it's not perfect but i did it with a few decals on my grasshopper and it looks ok.
