Tamtastico 1 Posted May 27, 2014 So I have an Axial SCX10 and I'm looking to improve it's looks and fit another body shell. The obvious after market shells aren't that good I don't think and nothing really you would see in the UK so I'm looking for suggestions from you guys; clearly a scale Landy is the preferred choice but I can't see any that are under £50 and don't come from HK. Any suggestions would be welcome and if you know of any stockists please let me know. Cheers Mark
SteveU30 1011 Posted May 27, 2014 I'm sure there was a chassis shortening kit for the SCX10 posted on here recently which opens up the possibility of putting a lot of Tamiya wheelbase shells on there. Just a thought?

mr crispy 2293 Posted May 27, 2014 I got this from US eBay a few years ago for my Scout. It was advertised as an 80's era Jeep bodyshell but had no manufactures labels.
JennyMo 3526 Posted May 27, 2014 If you don't want a Jeep Wranger (there is one here under £50: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Body-Jeep-JK-1-10-RED-1-10-RC-Crawler-Red-/121314950514?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item1c3eef3d72 ) then what about getting a Hilux - either the Tamiya or the Trailfinder - just the cab perhaps to save money, and building a tray back style beater? TWINSET 1793 Posted May 28, 2014 The scale Land Rover 90s are expensive, you'll be lucky to see one under £50 although they do crop up from time to time;http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/RadioControlled-/2562/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Land+rover+body&LH_PrefLoc=1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=ncThese guys have sold a few at £50 + shippinghttp://stores.ebay.co.uk/planedeals/RC-CRAWLERS-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=6860568010&_sid=181676260&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=2Proline do a few shells for the SCX, but you might have to play with the wheelbase as there's three different lengths, 11.4", 12" and 12.3"http://prolineracing.com/rock-crawling-bodies11.4" 290mmAX90021 Axial SCX10 Dingo 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit12" 305mmAX90044 SCX10 Deadbolt 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTRAX90034 SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit12.3" 313mmAX90035 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited C/R Edition 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD – RTRAX90027 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - KitAX90028 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTRAX90022 SCX10 Honcho 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR There's also a couple of others, now discontinued, which you might still be able to get;1973 Ford Bronco with cage1973 Ford Bronco1980 Blazer with cageOnce you start messing with the wheelbase, even a Tamiya Wrangler will fitYou could also try The Scaler Store; http://thescalerstore.altervista.org/catalog/index.php/cPath/27?osCsid=mkksus5aqtel94fujhd6fuune1There's no additional duty or charges to pay as they're in Italy. bromvw 744 Posted May 28, 2014 if you fancy something truly British then Kamtec do a Land Rover pick-up body that might be just what your after . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Decal-1-10-Defender-T-Maxx-Revo-Savage-Pick-Up-Tamiya-HPI-/310614114993?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item48520b42b1

It's a hard shell and a pick up, so modding the wheelbase should be easy to do to... a lot of possibilities with this when you add a few scale accessories and details! Lexan sucks!* Jx *Although Axial's OEM shells are very nicely detailed...
bromvw 744 Posted May 29, 2014 Kamtec also do a well detailed decal set for that Land Rover body http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-Decal-1-10-T-Maxx-Revo-Savage-Pick-Up-Tamiya-HPI-/191029971216?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item2c7a460910 Quality of their bodies is excellent IMO - easily as strong as Tamiya if not stronger . They lack the fine detail but for a runner / crawler their idea .
mr crispy 2293 Posted May 29, 2014 I was gonna say those Kamtec LR bodies are a tad sparse when it comes to details but being hardbodies, adding the extra detail you want with styrene and plasticard is very easy. I've found Kamtec's lexan can be a bit thin in places but I've not had any issues with their hardbody ABS shells.
bromvw 744 Posted May 29, 2014 Agreed - the ABS Kamtec do lack detail but as you say their easy enough to add detail to . As for the lexan even within this forum there seems to be differing opinions . Some say the Kamtec ones are actually thicker material than Tamiya's while others say otherwise . Personally i would take a punt as Keith is always happy to offer a refund if your not 100% happy with any of his products - so long as you return it as delivered obviously .
