So I have an Axial SCX10 and I'm looking to improve it's looks and fit another body shell.

The obvious after market shells aren't that good I don't think and nothing really you would see in the UK so I'm looking for suggestions from you guys; clearly a scale Landy is the preferred choice but I can't see any that are under £50 and don't come from HK.

Any suggestions would be welcome and if you know of any stockists please let me know.

Cheers

Mark

I'm sure there was a chassis shortening kit for the SCX10 posted on here recently which opens up the possibility of putting a lot of Tamiya wheelbase shells on there. Just a thought?

I got this from US eBay a few years ago for my Scout. It was advertised as an 80's era Jeep bodyshell but had no manufactures labels.

The scale Land Rover 90s are expensive, you'll be lucky to see one under £50 although they do crop up from time to time;

These guys have sold a few at £50 + shipping

Proline do a few shells for the SCX, but you might have to play with the wheelbase as there's three different lengths, 11.4", 12" and 12.3"

11.4" 290mm
AX90021 Axial SCX10 Dingo 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit

12" 305mm
AX90044 SCX10 Deadbolt 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR
AX90034 SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit

12.3" 313mm
AX90035 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited C/R Edition 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD – RTR
AX90027 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit
AX90028 SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR
AX90022 SCX10 Honcho 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR

There's also a couple of others, now discontinued, which you might still be able to get;
1973 Ford Bronco with cage
1973 Ford Bronco
1980 Blazer with cage

Once you start messing with the wheelbase, even a Tamiya Wrangler will fit

There's no additional duty or charges to pay as they're in Italy.

if you fancy something truly British then Kamtec do a Land Rover pick-up body that might be just what your after .

Great find!

It's a hard shell and a pick up, so modding the wheelbase should be easy to do to... a lot of possibilities with this when you add a few scale accessories and details!

Lexan sucks!*

Jx

*Although Axial's OEM shells are very nicely detailed...

I was gonna say those Kamtec LR bodies are a tad sparse when it comes to details but being hardbodies, adding the extra detail you want with styrene and plasticard is very easy. I've found Kamtec's lexan can be a bit thin in places but I've not had any issues with their hardbody ABS shells.

Agreed - the ABS Kamtec do lack detail but as you say their easy enough to add detail to . As for the lexan even within this forum there seems to be differing opinions . Some say the Kamtec ones are actually thicker material than Tamiya's while others say otherwise . Personally i would take a punt as Keith is always happy to offer a refund if your not 100% happy with any of his products - so long as you return it as delivered obviously .
