Hi chaps,

For a Monster Beetle:

I have an Mtroniks ECO27 ESC with a stock 540 motor.

Can anyone recommend a more powerful motor that will use the ESC, or should i change it?

All advice appreciated!

If you still have the ESC box or instruction it should tell you the number of turns it can handle else your ESC will just shut down if you used a lower turn motor than allow or worst it is doesn't have a built in temp shut off it will be ruin. Keep in mind the lower the turn, the higher the rpm but will shorten the run time. I am sure if you want speed or torque...it good to know a good hobby store that can give you directions and good price.

as i have said many times before a mod motor is not the best thing to put in a mb, as it will make the diff strip even faster![V]

a low turn motor probably wouldnt have the torque to strip the diff but a high turn motor would[:0] - so be careful!

if youve got a ball diff then you can fit a hop up motor and have no problems, but keep in mind the monster beetles gear box isnt the best design tamiya came up with[8)]

I agree with MMBIB, I have tried to fit hotter motors into my blackfoot but the gearcase/gears separate under load which causes screaching and spinning but no go! The rear driveshafts are also a poor design and wear out in no time when a high torque motor is fitted, I have tried everything from Kyosho meyhem motors thru to Team Orion modified 12x3 and the end result was to return to a stock motor. The BF/MB chassis is not great at handling anyway and a hotter motor simply exagerates the problem even more. Keep the MB for light play and get yourself a cheap secondhand buggy off ebay to use for bashing about. Sorry to be no help but we don't want to see you spend lots of money to find it doesn't work! Cheers, Ian.

Hi chaps,

Thanks, Ian.

I'll stay stock, although i did pick up some spare diff gears just in case...

Buying another RC, huh?

Anyone want to volunteer to persuade my wife? [xx(]

use the force!!!!

or use their logic, it will save money in the long run from not buying spares all the time, you will be happier etc

(sounds good, i wished it worked)
