Do I need the the tamiya part 53790 cup joint for universal shaft 53791 or will the metal ones included as a hop up for the tt02b ms be sufficient? The only difference is the needle point on the 53790

The pointy bit goes through the middle of the diff - fine if you upgrade to DF-02 diffs that have a central hole, but problematical if you use the stock TT-02 diffs supplied with the TT-02B MS as they use a spider with a solid center.

Ok so I will have to order them, because I only used the metal gears from the Df-02 in the rear. Thanks

Yes, I believe you'll need the DF-02 #9400152 metal parts bag A (and the DF-02 #51080 Gear Bag (Rising Storm Spur Gear) if you want to build the entire diff.). The 0.6 module motor pinion is not part of this assembly.

I received mine yesterday, and incidentally I broke one of the gears today when trying out a 36mm outrunner...

Note the missing tooth on the left hand side of the bevel pinion gear

I have noted that some of the other members only replace the plastic bevel pinion gear with a metal one, so very few of the parts are being used. However, the A parts also contain a steel motor pinion and 8 nice brass ball connectors, which can replace the sloppy step screws that holds the oil shocks, so it's not a total waste :P

question..... as this is confusing me somewhat without more detailed pics

so what we are doing is TOTALLY replacing the TT02 diff (4 bevelled gears) with the DF02 diff (3 bevelled gears) and then modifying the bevelled drive gear so it fits? struggling to find the parts bag for the housing - seem to come as separate parts with the casings being #0555104

and all this works with the TT02 high speed spur gear?

AND, i'm assuming the front can remain plastic BUT there are enough parts in BagA to do both or have a whole spare diff??

oh - and i have the MS that has the alloy drive shaft and prop joints

also..... it seems as the diff itself is tough enough but its the end bevel gear that suffers

so is it not just worth getting the large GPM gear for the TT02 @ £9 and a metal input/shaft gear?

To sum it up you replace the stock rear bevel pinion gear with the metal bevel gear from parts bag A. In order for it to fit you must file down that metal bevel gear a millimeter or two. I had also added the metal gears in the differential and metal ring gear which fit with no modifications at all. So far since doing this I have had no issues but I am only 2 battery packs through it. Parts bag A includes enough for both front and rear but the stress is not as bad as the rear. I see no reason why the high speed gear set will not work as to basically it is still the stock set up minus the gears now metal.

That's exactly what I did, except that I used the YR diff locker in the rear. If I end up taking the locked diff out, I'll put in the 4 metal bevel gears.

ok - done.... wasn't exactly clear what was needed and why initially and when the DF part number was searched it only brought up the large gear (which i already have)

Thanks

Did you have any trouble getting the gear filed down correctly? I held mine against a wide flat file and rubbed the gear down it a couple times, checked fitment, and refiled until it was a nice fit.

I've decided to build another Neo Scorcher, but in kit form with minimal upgrades. I assessed all of the left over parts from my Neo Scorcher build and realized that I had almost 3/4 of a car, lol. I'll be using the spare chassis tub that I got as a backup. I found the screw bags and parts tree's at JR-RC. They shipped from Hong Kong to Texas USA in 6 days. I thought that was pretty amazing considering other popular HK vendors took almost a month.

All I have left to gather are shocks, tires, and another metal drive gear. Instead of the Neo Scorcher body, I want to do something crazy. Something like taking a Muscle car body and fitting it to the chassis to make a Muscle Buggy. The suspension will stick through the wheel wells, or at least that's the idea in my head at the moment.

I was able to fit the universal Tamiya Racing Buggy wing using Egress wing mounts (plastic N parts), a couple of nitro exhaust pipe mounts/hangers and a bicycle wire spoke bent into shape.

Hello mate, lovely looking car. Can't seem to find the Universal Tamiya Racing Buggy wing mentioned, is there a part code? Thanks :)

Thanks mate! A quick search for "Tamiya racing buggy wing" came up with 54134 and 53984 :)

Ah that's great thanks. Not sure why I couldn't find that myself! Inferior googling skills clearly.... ;)  now ordered  part 53984 and it's on its way.  Cheers.

Hey one_hit, so most of my (many) parts are now in for the TT-2B MS car am going to build in the next couple of weeks. I got the 53984 rear wing in also, to use with a Neo Scorcher standard shell I ordered.

I guess I need to fix the wing to the body somehow;  I see the Egress N parts in your photo, and I see the bike spoke bespoke mod, what's the fitting you used to connect the spoke wire to the rear shock tower? Do you have a closer photo of the mod? Any help much appreciated! :)

Can't remember if I've asked this before on here, and can't find it if I did, so will ask again! :)

What is is the correct pinion size for tt02b? Will be using speed passion MMM 13.5t brushless.

My build starts this weekend hopefully. Thanks.

Thanks. Yeah sorry I meant to say 'correct' for normal driving. Was thinking more to be quick off the mark rather than going for high speed runs. Had assumed 18 or 19t would be about right.
