Hi,

Don't think you'll be able to get hold of a new hump pack, you can make them yourself though, split the case open on an old pack and replace with new cells soldered together with thin battery bars or thick copper wire.

I made a pack myself out of a new set of 3000 NiMh cells

I had found in my LHS a Sanyo 2000 NiMH with smaller cells, like the Tamiya battery sold with the re-release Six-wheeler, much better cells.

We tried racing with the 6-wheeler's Tamiya 1700mAh nicad;

this one was new borrowed from a 6-wheeler kit.

Cycled it a few times before the race.

It seems to have much higher Internal Resistance compared to

other racing packs, including NiMH 3300s & Nicad 1700-2400s.

There seems to be a lot less punch and also it got a lot warmer

than normal sub-C packs during discharge.

Wonder if NiMH 4/5-subC cells perform any better?

Will, the NiMH seemed pretty punchy, but of course anything modern makes a HB look fast [8D], but still I guess any Tamiya or Sanyo battery would be better then a Duratrax Piranha [;)] Also the battery didnt get warm with a stock 540, weird that the one in the Sixwheeler did... [8)]

Better make your own conclusions by checking the video on my site, I can only say it was easy to control and with a new not even run in modern stock RS540 as fast as a heavily overgeared BearHawk with a 15T motor in a "drag race"! [:0] Can ask my friend Beermoker if you don't beleive me, long live the oldies! [^]
